Re: calling all lake mead boaters! nevada
I haven't fished Mead much for a couple of years, so I don't have any recenth info for you. But, if going out at night, be sure to bring along fishing lights to draw in the shad, the more light the better. The foam/car headlight ones work good, but suck a lot of juice out of the battery. I've used the fluorescent lights and they work OK, not very bright. I haven't used the store bought LED fishing lights as they look weak to me, but I made a LED fishing light wire a dozen MR16 LED lights that's friggin bright, draws in the shad very well.

My usual drill for night fishing is, find a likely spot (cove, off point, even middle of lake) and anchor down in 50-80' of water, throw out lights, chum a bit, bait up a couple of rods and see if anything happens. If no fish within 1-2 hours, move. I've seen it where a couple hundred feet can be the difference between a wide open bite and no bites at all, so you don't necessarily need to move far.
