they have a nice camp ground at susquhana. It is up on top of the hill. They have some cabbins for the camp host.
I just drove in there once last year.

You probally could tie your boat up to the floating dock at the ramp. they have 100 ft floating dock there. two of them. so there would be room to tie a boat up, and be out of the way of other boats.

i meant they have two ramps right next to each other. i guess there is only 1 floating dock. but there is a ramp on either side of the dock.

I wouldn't recommend using their dock to leave a boat there for any period of time. I use that ramp almost exclusively. A boat left there will block others from using the ramp, plus the ramp is closed at dark anyway. Especially with a boat his size, it is hard enough to try and get around someone if they are at the end of the outside ramp. The inside is more shallow and I have never used it, I always hope those with smaller boats and jet skis would use the inside ramp.

This is the dock in the middle of the two ramps at Lake Clarke:

I was coming in to retrieve one time and some dude had his boat parked PERPENDICULAR to the dock thus blocking both lanes. I actually had to ask him to move it out of the way. He moved it to the one side. I retrieved my boat and I'll be damned if he didn't move it right back. I cannot fathom what he was doing.

Here is the ramp at Lapidum/Susquehanna. You can see there's ramps both sides of the pier.

You people with your long wonderful ramp docks make me so jealous. You see above what I'm stuck with. When the water is low it's pretty well useless. When I go to Conowingo we don't even have a dock!

That long wonderful dock put a small gash in my hull last year. You can see just in front of my boat in the 3rd pic where the rubber bump rail is hanging? There are nails sticking out there, I found out the hard way!

The ramp is under reconstruction right now, I will try to drive by to snap some pics of the ongoing construction, I wish I knew what they had in store.

I went down to the Lapidum ramp a few minutes ago. It is gated up, but I slid under to take these pics.

I am going to be vacationing this summer in the Middle River area. What licenses am I going to need if I am crabbing and fishing?

If you want to crab and fish, I would check into Marylands "consolidated bay sport boat license. You can find out more details here:

http://www.dnr.state.md.us/service/fishinfo.asp

It might be a little bit pricey depending on how long you will be down and if you will have a bunch of people that want to join in on the fun.

i think it is 50 bucks, so that everyone on board can fish. but only you can fish when not on the boat. (you get a free fishing liscence and crabbing liscence with that) that is in state prices.

The crab liscence by it self is 5 bucks, (10 out of state). Fishing is 10-15 in state. you can catch up to a bushel with only a fishing liscence. A dozen crabs with nothing. 2 Bushels if you have your fishing liscence, and someone else with the $5 crab liscence on board.

Hello Everyone!

I recently saw a PBS Frontline program about the Chesapeake Bay. The news, as most news is today, is not good.

I live in Florida and know of similar situations happening in the Gulf of Mexico and other sensitive estuaries here.

I wish I had some great piece of advice, but alas I do not. All I can do is hope you watch it and enough people with voices louder than mine can preserve the beauty for our children to see some day.

Yeah, saw it yesterday. I noticed she had been sitting low for the past couple weeks. Maybe the snow load put her down.

Hey, Scott- did you clean up your PM's? I tried last week but your inbox was full.

Today was beautiful!!...and the weather for the rest of the week is suppose to be nice also. Has us anxious to be out boating. This is our first year boating and we have our boat stored in Middle River...just wondering when everyone typically gets their boat out on the water?
