Re: Boat Names

We named our SeaRay "Dock Holliday" for two reasons. First, because we like to holiday out on the dock with our boat, and secondly because the infamous gunslinger Doc Holliday was a dentist, and so am I. Actually, I have to give credit for this name to a user I met on another message board of the same profession. He told me the other day that he was going to name his next boat "Whitecaps" which I thought was appropriate as well. :D

My early boating days were all about water skiing. '15 Tri-hull Pop bought for us originally came with a 9.9 (was rated for 70hp). Then when I became of age I acquired an 85hp to put on her. I installed a center ski tow pylon and ski racks. My cousin was a bit of an artist and painted a wild colorful slalom wave and skier on the side of his yellow VW bug (with caption "Ski Naked"). So eventually I came up with a name and graphics then had him paint on my boat.

Re: Boat Names

last summer my wife and i and our 2 boys along with my father in-law and one of his canoe buddies went to northern saskatchewan on a canoe/wilderness trip. We canoed aprox 35 miles ONE WAY and stayed out in the bush for 2 weeks. I would like to say it was a great time canoeing but i am NOT a fan of paddling. I suck at it and at times was tempted to smack my lovely wife with the paddle up side the head!!!

Last weekend i went to my boat dealer and bought my first REAL boat. A 16 ft Lund Rebel XL sport with 60 hp 4 stroke. I got all the bells and whilstles. After seeing how important it is to name my boat i thought the name fitting
"DUN CANOE N"

If any body is interested i now have a 16 ft canoe for sale. Northern proven, 2 paddles included, great price!!

Re: Boat Names

Up here on the Canadian border, I put the boat into the water as soon as I can. We still get weird looks when we tell people we are going to be out on the lake in THIN ICE.

Re: Boat Names

On my boat, I havent formally named it yet, but I was thinking "Patience" because one of my friends insisted that it had to be a woman's name, and it kinda fits. Everything I do on it (project boat) takes a lot of time, and since I bought it at the end of this summer, I havent been out to use it, so I have to wait till next summer.... Patience fits.

Reading this forum though, I saw the guy who suggested WOT and decided to play with it a bit, and now I might go with "Open Wide" as its more fun :)

Re: Boat Names

Named my boat Gale Force after my mom who was named Gale. She'd get her nose all bent out of shape if you spelled her name "Gail" So every boat I'll ever own will carry her name and just to warn ya, don't change her name when I hand her off to ya!!! Mom was one scary biotch when she was mad... God love her!!!

Re: Boat Names

I haven't read this whole thread, so I'm not sure this name's not been used, but my current project 16'Jupiter will have the name, "Piece of Ship II".

"Piece of Ship I" got a few laughs, and was quite often mispronounced.:D

Re: Boat Names

My son and I built an 8 ft. long jon boat type fishing boat just for ponds and small creeks and rivers. We named it "Borderline 11" after the catch phrase of Danny Glover and Joe Pesci in the movie Gone Fishing. I will make a post in another forum(this doesn't seem the proper place) and post a link to pics of the boat. Dave

Re: Boat Names

We love our rock and roll and we really enjoyed the summers in our black 240 Sundancer. It came time to upgrade so we chose a 290 the same color... thus... "BACK IN BLACK"

Re: Boat Names

I bought my first boat this past summer. It's a 1989 Sea Ray Bowrider is great conditon. It was a BoatAngel boat purchased off of E-Bay. Yes, I got extremely lucky in that I am just it's second owner. The guy told me that he bought the boat when he was about 21 and he and his best friend would leave work and go to the lake and get blasted.... hence the name.... "Lost Wages"

OH, and he said, "If that boat ever starts talking, don't believe a damn word that it says!!"

Well...if Bandit...
miniminidscf0809.jpg

survives his puppyhood {I forgot how much works involved in training LOL} he'll be my regular 'go-to' guy to fish with, And if he keeps most of his sheperd markings I'm leaning towards naming my aluminum Starcraft - 'Grin Tin Tin'
a little play on words from the old Rin Tin Tin show and the fact if I ever get this boat back together and on the water I'll be grinning
