Re: Any Rush listeners in the house?

Well 12 say what you will, few (well maybe not exactly) will listen. Anyone who has a strong opinion today is vilified by the left. It's just not the much ballyhooed 'moderate' thing to do today.

If ya'll haven't gathered it yet, 'moderate' is another liberal invention to try to sway and shame people away from strong conservative stands while they themselves try every trick possible to disguise their true intent.

If it weren't for Limbaugh and the conservative talk shows that his success spawned we would have absolutely runaway Liberalism in this country today. He, initially, singlehandedly exposed the constant lies and prevarications of the Left along with very effective articulations of the conservative cause.

I have no doubt that if it weren't for Limbaugh et al, we would have either had Algore or that other clown as President by now.

Re: Any Rush listeners in the house?

There is a distinct singular American culture - rugged individualism and self-reliance - which made America great. opinion - What did make america great? Liberal programs, corporate welfare, government regulation? Or the concept that each man is the pilot of his own destiny. All men are created equal. What would be the reason America rose to greatness in your opinion.

Evidence refutes liberalism. false show me this evidence. - Soviet Union, welfare, lower taxes = increased revenues, Partial birth abortion, how many premature births are there walking and fishing and boating and living? Millions. Yes, it is life.

The most beautiful thing about a tree is what you do with it after you cut it down. opinion - perhaps it is an opinion but I tend to aggree with it.

Ronald Reagan was the greatest president of the twentieth century. opinion - can't imagine who you think was better.

Condoms only work during the school year. false - condom effectiveness is independent of time of year - Condoms are only given out for free to teens and pre-teens without parental consent during the school year, and they only work when they are "AVAILABLE" according to the left and therefor, the statment is mocking the foolishness of the position that refutes people can not be responsible for their actions.

Poverty is not the root ("rut") cause of crime. opinion - explain Ken Lay, explain OJ, explain car theft, murder, extortion, explain coach bags with vouchers, explain gang violence. None of which are based on poverty. They are based on greed and obsession.

Women should not be allowed on juries where the accused is a stud. opinion - see point 35.

The way to improve our schools is not more money, but the reintroduction of moral and spiritual values, as well as the four "R's": reading, 'riting, 'rithmatic, and Rush. opinion - your right schools are doing so well now that we spend more money per student than at anytime in our history. Illiteracy rates up, violence up, drop out rates up, dropping SAT scores yearly, We used to be first in the world in terms of education now we are what 19th???

There is a God. opinion - I question his existance at times myself but Stephen Hawking believes there is a god and many feel he is the smartest man in the world.

There is something wrong when critics say the problem with America is too much religion. opinion - you think the opposite is correct?

The only way liberals win national elections is by pretending they're not liberals. false - they also win elections by putting up better candidates. - This is what Bill Clinton did, what do you think Hillary is doing right now. Liberals Gore and Kerry who ran as liberals lost.

Feminism was established as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society. false - babes also want access - It's a joke.

Using federal dollars as a measure, our cities have not been neglected, but poisoned with welfare dependency funds. opinion - Really, you think that cities are better now than prior to the great society programs? Trillions of dollars have been poured into the cities and they are worse now than ever.

Progress is not striving for economic justice or fairness, but economic growth. opinion - Economic justice or fairness is far to objective to be actually qualifiable. One persons justice is anothers robbery (ask any man who has been divorced how "fair" the system was) Economic growth is measured across all economic lines and represents innovation, efficiency, and the betterment of society.

Liberals measure compassion by how many people are given welfare. Conservatives measure compassion by how many people no longer need it. false - cite your source - Who started welfare and who is striving to cut it back. And the statistics are?

You could afford your house without your government - if it weren't for your government. false - I can afford my house with or without my government - not everyone can say that. They ever rising number of seniors being thrown out of their homes due to rising property taxes for failed schools.

Too many Americans can't laugh at themselves anymore. opinion - fact.

I would conclude also that he is as much entertainment as political. But there is alot behind his beliefs. I don't always agree with his positions, but he is the best at framing and defining a situation or position in the industry today. His commentary on the state of the nation today isn't all that different than the NY Times and they call themselves journalists. Rush is a flawed person just like the rest of us and is therefor susceptable to being wrong, but he speaks plainly and his message resonates with a large portion of the population. My objection to those who disagree with Rush's positions is they are more interested in killing the messenger than dealing with the message.

Dang, Jtexas. That's a good, valid, question.
It's nice to be able to debate with rational people like you and the rest of this forum, unlike some other sites i have been to.

Unfortunately, the answer would take a bit longer than the time i have before i have to be at werk, so look for it after 6 this evening.
It will be worth the wait, i hope.

But for the 10 minutes i have left, a short C&P:

Rush Wins His 4th National Association of Broadcasters
Marconi Award for Syndicated Personality of the Year

"I would like to once again thank my audience for making this possible. Their loyalty and support are unprecedented and I am grateful. And I am the first to realize that this kind of recognition doesn't come without the help, support and partnership of each and every single radio station carrying my program. I appreciate them all and will never take them for granted. Eighteen years into this phase of my career, and I am still humbled by this award." - Rush Limbaugh

the list goes on...
You're asking my opinion, right? That's what I'm saying, those are opinions. Some I agree with some I don't. BTW who said schools are doing so well now?

Like I said, a journalist who presents opinion as fact is a failure as a journalist, and that's a fact.

Of course I recognize & understand hyperbole & sarcasm. By choosing these as his primary tools, Limbaugh marginalizes himself. I think it's where he wants to be, after all,

Those who can, do. Those who can't, talk about it......unless talking about it is what they do.

12'r.. question...
A little side-note: did you know the WPB DA's are attempting to rewrite the law ,and have the law enforced retroactively to make it ilegal to "doctor shop" (what they want to burn Rush with)?
Got a source for that?...

From what I can gather, prescription fraud, commonly refered too as "doctor shopping", has been a third degree felony for quite some time, although rarely is anyone ever tried for it..

Perhaps the re-writing you refer to has to do with statute of limitations?...

Re: Any Rush listeners in the house?

Why would people swear by a bigot who rants for weeks about dope heads and Clinton dope etc etc, then claims to be a genius and know all but in fact is a DOPE ADDICT, surely no one thought he was not smart enough to know what he was doing was wrong. It is only wrong for others. Sounds like a politician to me.

I personally don't think his addiction is any of my business long as it doesn't affect his job performance, but I respect your opinion about it.

Just like I can't believe people are so outraged that a president would deny an extramarital "affair" (using that word loosely ;) ) in a press conference. Especially a Southern Gentleman: as if they expected him to "kiss & tell." Of course it's his first priority to protect the young lady's reputation!

[disclaimer: since I am not a professional political satirist, I'll go ahead and label that last paragraph as satire, just to head off any confusion in advance.]

Just one question, maybe you'll know the answer to this one: when Rush broadcasts things like "Liberals hate America," and you hear some of his loyal listeners repeating it as if they actually believe it, why they do that?
Don't they recognize hyperbole and sarcasm when they hear it?
thanks,
No offense taken here for sure, and none can be, from honest questions and differences of opinion, Jtexas.
You asked a valid, to the point question, and it deserves a great deal of attention, thought and
honesty. I told you it would be long-winded. But it is central to so much misunderstanding and feuding in our society, between me and you.
I'm sure most first, or second-time listeners to Rush have the same reaction to him that i did
back in 1989, when i first listened...."He is a crass, concieted blow-hard". I truely did have
that instantanious relution to him. He reminded me of John Madden narating a football game (boom).
And It wasn't my truck i was riding in, so it wasn't my radio to change the dial on...I therefore reluctantly listened, only to discover this blow-hard was sarcasticly witty, and saying what i TRUELY believed. It wasn't his "mannerisms" that i was in tune with. It was his "relentless pursuit of the truth".
You asked, "when Rush broadcasts things like "Liberals hate America," and you hear some of his loyal listeners repeating it as if they actually believe it, why they do that?":
Because generally-speaking Rush, and i'm sure "some of his loyal listeners", repeat what
they believe --- that liberals hate the country. These are the reasons for that general assumption:
Differences in the economic model we hold as "ideal" -- or Capitalism/vs/socialism:
In general, cons believe the capitalism is what makes America, and those countries that employ it's principles, global economic leadership.
Libs on the other hand, look towards socialism as some sort of utpopian society
They believe in distribution of the wealth. Robin Hood economics has ,as Rush puts it, "failed every single time is has been tried.
If one looks around the world at nations who have instituted this form of economic model, they will soon see, they are all diametrically-opposed to America, (except for France --and frankly, who knows about them for sure)...
Unamerican.

The liberal's stand on the the war on Islamic terrorism:

Thier encouragement to terrorists has cost countless coalition lives. It's not "rocket surgery", to make the leap from "non-supportive" to "Unamerican".
Rush and i believe it is not EVEN POSSIBLE to "support the troops, but not the war", as some libs like to say. Rush has gone as far as to refer to Cindy Sheehan's ilk, not as "anti-war protestors", but as "Anti-American war protestors" lately!!
In case you don't know why, i will explain... Liberals protesting America's shift to an aggressive stand since 9/11 against terrorists and those who harbor them, are protesting my country's official stand. The fact that a republican president is commander in chief is not important to most cons at all, as regards this issue. It is but one more (actaully, the CHIEF) reason many liberals are siding with the enemy by protesting their country's goals. This makes them "unamerican" in the eyes of Rush Limbaugh and many of his listeners.
What defines "Patriotism" to a liberal has changed greatly in the last 40 years. Patriotism to Rush is what it has always been, Jtexas.
Liberals view it as "standing-up against tyranny", as they define tyranny. They define tyranny as "American aggression on the global scene".

Feel free to correct me , if you do not think this is true in general..By "in general", i mean, not what you personally believe, but what you know "the masses on the left in general" believe.

Cons in general (75% of Rush's audience) define "tyranny" as aggression towards anyone, anywhere, by tyrants. This includes Hitler, Stalin, Sadamn and his twisted younguns, uday and kusay et al.
Bill Clinton's response to acts of terror directed towards America durring his presidency reflect this liberal "anti-American" view of the american military as "world police".
Bush views them as America's defence....So does Rush Limbaugh and me.
Libs are fed tidbits like the following from their press: "Uday and Kusay" were just misunderstood, having been brought-up in a disfunctional home, by a father who has led a tortured and troubled life" -NYT-
The left are known for their "compassion", aren't they, no matter how mis-directed?

Rush and I gag.

The left's use of the miltary?

Rush Limbaugh and liberals in general, are diametrically opposed as to what American means as regards to war and the US armed forces.
Even if Hillary were commander in chief waging this war, most libs would iether shut up, or keep protesting. They would never support.
Again, this is not America's official stand, therfore, "unamerican", as Rush has labeled them.
enough on the issue of the war. I think you get it. Black Hawk down?

Let's move-on, dot org.

The Liberal stand on the environment:

Liberals, are forced by tradition to support anything that removes man from his surounding environment. Man to them, is the source of all degradation to the environment.
"Deforestaton"? Not when it means no deck for them!
"Environmentalist whackos" is what Rush calls this essential lobby group of the liberal base.
Because they think the snail darter is more important than man, but only in your back yard, not theirs! They want windmills EVERYWHERE, generating free electricity that they can tax...But not when it ruins their view off Martha's Vinyard!

They think "global warming is man's fault, and the reason for all the hurricanes, and GWB supports polution" and all that rot.
Rush and i do not. We happen to like the environment, and wish to conserve it and preserve it also--- just not at the expense of our children.
Draconian liberal restrictions have thwarted nuclear power plant, oil refinery, oil extraction construction everywhere they could, as oil dependance increases. An example of the liberal MODEL for America, would be present-day California. This is simply unacceptable to Rush's America, therefore, unamerican.

Legalised abortion, while outlawing capital punishment
Just as the other issues, many threads here have belabored this one.
Let's just say, Rush's America likes babies, hates killers, and shares no comradery with so-called "Americans" who do. This issue is go/no-go with us "ditto heads".

The demoralization of America through support and dependance upon the media and movie industry.
Simply-put: Americans must not cut their own throats, moreover, those of their children.
Attempots at Removing the word, "God" from my pledge of alligience? Try and remove or add ANYTHING in it, and be labeled "unAmerican" for life! Rush knows what it was before the 50's, and niether he or i really can do anything about that. We CAN stand in the left's way over any future revisions.
Listen to many of Rush's fellow talk-show hosts, and they blast the FCC for "censoring them". Bob-n-Tom address this daily, after they received a hefty fine for open profanity.Howard Stern moved to "pay-per-vent".
Even some conservatives find the FCC doing their job, as a breach of their cival rights and all that do. So it's "American" to be able to say whatever you while MY kids listen? Best not go there. Rush's opinion? It's UN-American to force the demoralization of the airwaves at the expense of the listener.
If you want to appeal to the gutter of America, fine. Go pay-per-view or sat-radio premium. But not on MY kid's picnic spinner in prime-time.

Which brings me to CONSTITUTIONAL integrity:
Enough with the ammendments allready!!! Sure, this has little to do with your question, but so much to do with what Rush is all about. The left has ruled this country for years, from a position NEVER relegated to that job ---the bench. Rush has a problem with so-called "Americans" subverting the rule of law by legislating from the courts. Add to this, the obstructionism at every turn to at least, equalise the criminal influence oozing from this corrupt body like a carbuncle.
It truely is ruining what America was in Rush's world (and mine).

I hope this answered your question, Jtexas.

Yes, you are 100% correct. I meant they were trying to rewrite the existing law. There is no precedent to successfully commit using this statute...not of limitations, but of precedent (stary sicus or wth they call it).
But my entire point with this, is NOT the staute, but the intent of the prosecution. It is snake-like.

It's not that it anyone has rarely been tried for it-- it's that NObody has been, and that the penalties need to be more strict. They must remove Rush from the airwaves somehow.
It's much the same as using RICO to go after Al capone...They had to make legal illegal back then, in order to get Capone convicted.

I'm not a lawyer, but have access to the case as it prgreesses ( a little side-bennie included with our subscription).
It is some intersting reading.

Re: Any Rush listeners in the house?

Can't help but notice the great number of posts are from a select few of members who clearly must prove rush is (not) right.
If he is entertainment, he is not right, or wrong, just a pompous self-righteous blowhard.
He slams drug addicts as immoral and slime-balls, but then admits he is a drug addict too, but rush is (NOT) right.
What I find very entertaining is the terabytes used trying to defend him. He is a polarizing personality, those of us (liberal, conservative, democrat and republican) who can think for ourselves don't need rush, or anyone else to validate our positions, or our OPINIONS. However when you clutch to something, anything to validate yourself, you will vehemently defend even the poorest excuses, just to feel validated yourself.

And I think for myself. I have opinions. My opinions aren't wrong, but that does not make them right either, they simply are my opinions. And that does not make them better than yours, just different. We all have our own opinions, but rush thinks his are better than yours, unless yours are the same. He also thinks HE is better than you are, and all you have to do is listen with an open mind to hear that.

So you may go on thinking that rush is (not) right, but the rest of us will think for ourselves. We will occasionally agree with him. But I think that more often than not, we will have our own opinions.

I think I got my answer.
