it is running!! had a few hiccups getting here, all my own fault. but there figured out and now i just need to set the timing in the water. time to recover and rebuild the doghouse. still not sure what to use for the insulation, so if anyone has any suggestions, i’m listening!

got the doghouse recovered and a bunch of other little things done. i don’t ever want to install rub rail again. although by the end it was going pretty well. heat definitely is a requirement.

still not tested, but put everything in place to see what it looks like. pretty happy so far. still have to straighten the windshield hinge, and install the boarding ladder.

Did you put any kind of foam strip down between the windshield and the boat? If so, what did you use and where did you get it?

i reused the old rubber strip. it was in great shape believe it or not. i know great lakes skipper sells some windshield install kits. i have one for my baron that i haven’t installed yet. i’ll get a better look at what it looks like new and see if i have any ideas

Cool, I'll check their kit out. You've got a Baron? I heard that my boat (XLT-185) used the Baron hull mold.

i got it to replace the tyee. it’s surprising how much bigger it is. i always thought the tyee was a big boat. for around here anyway. the baron makes it seem like a little tinner.

of course, after getting it in the water, i discovered a decent leak. had it in the water for about an hour, and got about 2 cups of water in the bilge!! i spent a while looking, as the boat never leaked a drip before the tear down. as suspected, it was the worst possible spot(other than a rivet!), it was a cracked livewell drain hose. these run from under the livewell down out the bottom of the hull. i had to use an inspection camera to find it, and push water from a garden hose up from under the hull into the drain hole. luckily i was able to get the livewell out without having to remove the console!! but it took some weird angles and scraped up arms to get the hoses on and off with the console in place!! cheap fix, just time and frustration. should have it back together tomorrow, which is a priority, cause it’s already listed for sale!!
