I gota reply about my wife before i post the first glass work brag shot;
She is awesome, and understands my problem... She calls me a boat *****, but she lets me buy boats! Ive had 14 so far since getting my licence 5 years ago: worked on them all, fished from them all, rebuilt outboards, spent all my spare time working on them; had up to 3 boats in the yard at 1 time, and she understands that i just need to do this; she even got her boat license so i could have a ski too! I knew it was love on a whole nother level when we swapped my dirtbike for a near new car, and instead of keeping it for herself as an upgrade, she encouraged me to trade it for the fishing boat we have now! She is awesome! :couple_inlove:
Anyhow, First bits coated and pb'd -
So have decided to work my way up to glassing in the actual boat. It turned out 2 b a real silver lining that i had to wait for the resin, cause i had time to build the seat bases first, this means i get to learn some basics before i get to anything critical.
So after a wipedown with acetone, i mixed up my first resin batch and coated one of the jump seats; then realised "damn, that bare wood drinks like a sailor (or my wifes sister... whole nother looong story)" so i mixed a second batch an coated the other seat; Then mixed up some pb (takes more filler than i thought to make it thick enough) and used a ziplock bag to pipe it into the seams... Yup, needed a second batch of that too, and if it wasnt getting too late the third mix would have finished both of the seats, so that will b first job when i can get to it tomoz. Then will start cutting into the giant roll of csm (36 kg) and lay some real glass :watermelon:
