Now im trying to chase down a carb rebuild kit, as the pump is a bit leaky, and ive just got some gasket maker in the main body, trouble is finding stuff for this holley, a bit of a rarity, even the holley books dont list it - holley 650 double tunnel ram, 12R10658B. difference to reg. holleys is the float chamber lids are part of the main body gasket...

Yep, ok, now im frustrated!!

1. many searches later i know exactly the carb rebuild kit i need, it will cost under $50 - great! but holley wont ship to australia (what?!) & the auto shop cant find any in this entire continent... it will have to wait for the next shipment from holley - in 3 months!! :brick:

2. thermostat kit similar story - they cost about $30, then add up to $60 to ship it from usa or europe!!

3. dipstick tube (cause the orig corroded) seems to be made for volvo - & will cost me about 176 euro - say WHAT!? - fugghet it - ill modify a chevy tube, or have 1 made from 24 carat gold, will still be cheaper!!

just grrrr... :censored:

Check local marinas. Might be a set they can't get rid of. Also search for carb shops. Not sure if you have them but if so, they carry lots of different sets.

Not sure if I could do any better but you could ship to me and I could ship to you if you'd like, pm me if interested.

thats such a kind offer Pat, i think ill take u up on it... but for now i found a base gasket and fuel pump diaphram (almost the same cost as a whole kit from holley...) so that will keep the fuel where its meant to be;

I wish we had the whole 'marina' system you guys have, but our boating industry is not at all comparable - here marinas are just where rich guys keep their yachts; and any item marked as 'boat' or 'marine' automatically costs 3 times as much. u wouldnt believe what i paid for this project boat, but over here it was a bargain... as most boats are fishing boats, & u really have to pay thru the nose for leisure craft... id never even heard of a 'bowrider' till last year!

Let me know. Glad to help. We have a marina here in my town but they don't want to deal with someone with such an old boat and motor (until recent etec). They are only interested in working on your boat for mucho Dinero. They seem annoyed whenever you walk in to order parts. It's funny because they have a website with nothing but horrible reviews on it yet they are always busy. I'd rather deal with iboats or the like.

I totally 100% agree. I can't stand the snarky attitude of some parts places. Besides, where I live ain't exactly the boating capital of the world!! :ranger:

Congrats on the splash. Those gremlins will go away, fix this and that seems like old boats take a lot of tinkering but i find it enjoyable and i learn something new every time.

Your wifes a looker, so is the boat haha

Hiyall, geez its been a while since i had a computer - right on 5 months since i was typing a really witty post on this here forum and the old puter died, just went blue and refused to compute any more...

So the boat is awesome - ill load up some fotos shortly. Trailer tows well, launches and retrieves easy; engine is smoooooth; she sits luverly in the water and tows well while making a reasonable wake for boarding.

Gremlins mostly sorted, caby thing is still haunting me, im about to bite the bullet and buy a new refurbished unit off ebay that has conventional gaskets and rebuild kits available. Overheat is sorted, and the thermostat DID have a cooling effect, without the thermostat installed no water was diverted to the exhaust manifold, so they got hot and then so did the whole engine! She now sits on 150f all day long.

Unfortunately the props are oversised (called size B7, i need the B6 ones) so with a boatload of peeps she wont nose down and ride on plane unless the bigger passengers move to the front - all the more reason to chop the cabin into a bowrider :D

ok ill go get pix...
