Sounds like a good start to me, there are always bugs to work out after launch, just part of the process. I bought paddles for mine incase I had to row back to shoreThe splash went better than expected albeit I was really nervous because of all the work done and being my first time working on a boat.
It ran very well even with the slight stuttering at idle but never stalled, she planed out quite well and once on plane I had to back off the throttle because she wanted more but my wife said she saw us hit 38 mph at 4000 rpm which is fast enough on this small boat.
My wife finally realized that the controller needs to be replaced after watching me fight with it so I got permission
Not surprisingly the outdrive is noisy so I didn't do hole shots or anything like that basically just tooled around slightly above ide but of course had to experience some speed.
So as far as future purchases we are looking at a drive in better condition or rebuild, controller, distributor or rebuilding it so not really bad, but would not have truly known without getting her in the water.
Future plans will definitely some kind of work on some of the seating material, upgrading dash, gauges and adding more storage.
The worst thing I experienced with my outing was where I was launching the boat had a large hole about 10 feet off shore but no large enough for my trailer so the trailer was never level and actually had to manhandle the stern back onto it as my wife pulled the boat out.
It could have have been worse like what I witnesses a jetsier go through though:
It was brand new (Black and orange) couldn't see the make but they loaded it on the trailer but never hooked up the safety line and for some reason pulled out real fast yanking it off the trailer and totally smashing the bottom of it, pieces everywhere!
In conclusion, the story of my boat isn't finished and definitely will be posting about it

That hole off the ramp comes from people powering onto the trailer, which is frowned upon for that reason.

I totally agree, the strange part is that thinking about upgrades, future repairs and not being consumed on what's broken or having a time-line in your head about the splash!
