With your interior being in as good a shape as it was, I'm not surprised to see you keeping more or less the same color scheme with the carpet.

Blue is my fave color, but since my interior was completely shot AND had been partially redone, I have no idea what colors anything is going to be.

I'm actually adding more than what was there originally, but with everything sealed up, I'm not worried about rot.
I could have tried different colors or patterns, perhaps, but I'm an old-school sucker for originality.
I need to thank @todhunter for the suggestion on carpet.

LOL I did on the test float the second time. It was just sitting on the trailer in the water. I was just checking for leaks. My son said hey dad look water is shooting out the side of the boat. Well bilge pump works. I forgot the plug.

It was funny. I lifted the engine cover and oh sheet. All I had to do was pull it forward. It was floating but still attached to the trailer. I made all the newby mistakes at least once. Nobody was born doing this. there is alot to remember. Wait till you drag the skeg.

When cutting patterns for carpet in the boat what material have all found works best?
I have plenty of cardboard, which is what I was planning on using but wondered if anything else might be easier to work with.
I have alot of angles and semi-complicated pieces especially in the console and doghouse areas.

clear 4 mil plastic and a sharpie marker

unroll the plastic and let sit in the sun to get rid of wrinkles

then let cool.

lay the plastic on the floor of the boat, see where you need to mark on it, and draw your lines

if you mess up, shipping tape and a new piece of plastic

Yep, I used 6 mil plastic because that's what I had. Tape didn't stick too well to it to hold it in place, but I made it work.

I ended up using white vinegar and only let it soak for 15 minutes. I scrubbed with a toothbrush, rinsed thourghly dried with compressed air.
I previously tried Grez-off, letting it soak for days, but it really didn't do what I had hoped. We use it at work as a parts cleaner(environmentally safe).
I'm very happy with the results and will rebuild it..

Well it's rebuilt and came out better than expected and will give it some paint when it warms up.

I wanted to mention the heater I bought for the garage that maybe some could use. I purchased it from Lowe's. It goes up to 80k BTU and uses propane.

I wanted to bring up a subject and evidence that if you have an older boat, don't neglect your fuel hoses. I gave each one the flex test as I hope you can see the old one was horrible; even the wire reinforcement was rusted badly.

It's been many years since I was in a rebuilding project, but why do I always find something else that I need? These small things are killers!
I now need the choke plate spring and spark arrestor stud.....
Maybe one day the carpet will be ordered lol

Good visual on the fuel hose too. Mine weren't that bad, but I was very glad I replaced them, as they were original to my boat.

I finally have a sunny semi-warm day and got my measurements to order the carpet on Monday!
I started installing my new control cables and discovered a good thing sort of. I purchased a separate adapter kit and come to find out each cable comes with one, so I will have extras, lol.
Not all bad, extras good for hoarding, lol.
I moved my daughter up north of me and found what appears to be boat graveyards, no signs, though, but I guess I'll have to inquire but hope they don't have guns, lol.
I missed seeing this!

I have a thread in the OMC drive section and want to thank LouC for all of his valuable information.
I want to find a spare drive unit and found out I can use a V6,V8 lower, which is heavier duty than mine, which I must do. I like heavy duty
I will also locate an upper but must be for my engine. I never knew there were different ratios between upper and lower.

I figured out how the controller comes out, much simpler than expected. I greased all the wear points, hopefully extending its life because the plastic bushing under the lever is very worn.

Today didn't turn out as well, as I hoped.
I was working on the shift cable that continually had play in it, so I was repeatedly trying different things and low and behold the arm broke because the nut locked up.
I used the tools at the belcrank and up by the ESA but still had play which I am thinking it's from the worn our controller plus when in gear I get alot of back and forth on the propeller which from the videos I've watched they didn't have.
I found out my anti-siphon valve was gutted.
With all of this happening, I resorted to rewiring this birdsnest of wiring for the sending unit, blower, and bilge pump.
