I finally had some time to work on her and feel good about it!
Motor is in and aligned with cables all connected and adjusted along with getting the outdrive on. I also installed a new bilge pump.
I plan on purging the trim system tomorrow or Saturday then will work on getting it running at least. I still have many other things to do but they are getting smaller .

Good evening everyone,
I have the trim system bled and all other miscellaneous things taken care of but as what seems to be typical with OMC I have a no spark condition but it's isolated to the distributor so it won't be big deal figuring it out. Many things have been changed since it was last run

Just a little update. She runs albeit very rich which I'm attributing to a stuck float since it's been sitting 2 years but still gonna recheck timing etc after that and shifts so much better with an adjusted ESA.
Even though I have these small things happening it's still very satisfying when I think about where I was 2 years ago.
I will say it again and probably again as my process continues that I will be forever endebted to you all of your help and sharing , I could never have gotten here without it!

Just out of curiosity I was thinking about the ESA but I unplugged both plugs and still had the issue. That should have eliminated that correct?

Hi all,
Got her running much better but still a little rough but I'm hopeful it's just the plugs due to the extreme richness I had been running it troubleshooting.
She ran for an hour while I was doing the timing and things I only went through a gallon of gas which I know not under load but with idle and higher rpms I think I'm close.
I dug out my dad's old set of tune up gadgets and well I only trust the timing light because the readings I got from the other items didn't make a bit of sense lol.
This set is older than I am and I'm sure it was purchased from Sears back then and he had made a cool box for them though.

I figured while I had some time since I had the walk-through panels removed I might as well replace the rotted wood under the fabric.
It was alot worse than I imagined and the side pictured is the better of the two which made it very difficult to create a pattern but I did my best to follow the contour of the material where the wood had all but disappeared. I'm reattaching the old fabric for now till I get the funds to either attempt myself or have it replaced by someone else.

I put two coats of exterior grade paint on the pieces which should outlast me considering the originals basically had nothing.
I'll start reassembly this week and all that's left is the cover that goes across the stern (a section of it) and the rear of the side panels.
My main goal after she is splashed though is reinstalling the carpet (new of course ).

It was my first time and made many mistakes that I re-did but I am happy with the results so far but I just wish it didn't take so long lol

Hi all,
I ran her for awhile today and have come to the realization that a carb cleaning/rebuild is going to happen in the spring but I'll run her one more time to get the stabil into the fuel system for the winter.
I reinstalledthe front units so the windshield supports could be attached.

Hi all,
I have an 88 capri 1750 BR and wanted to ask if anyone would know replacement cable part numbers for the throttle and front shift.
I've been looking around and in worst-case scenario I measure and identify the connections but wanted to ask anyway. The ones I currently have are red which like the rear shift was an upgraded version from original but I only find black casings so I'm unsure of the quality so to speak. Just wanted to make sure.

One of the things I wanted to do in the future was rewire the boat well I think I came across the motherload! There were throwing this away at work and I couldn't pass it up. I will make notes on what color replaces the factory colors for future reference.

Build a frame, cover it and also heat it. Lots of tarp configs and boat covers to use. Let see if this pic posts. Alittle overbuild but you can get the idea.

Thanks for the picture KC. I have a small concrete pad next to my garage that I hope to attach and put the boat under like a lean-to so to speak. The whole boat wouldn't fit but 90%will. I like what you did there but I know my wife wouldn't be happy if I did it
One positive this year is with the fiberglass finished I can work on her earlier this year compared to the past couple.

Since carburetors are expensive for the 2.3 and it's a gamble on reconditioned ones I'm going to try cleaning the old one.

I've done alot of reading and video watching and have decided to use muratic acid. I've tried soaking and scrubbing using various cleaners but nothing truly gets rid of oxidation to this point. I will completely remove and rubber or similar things before I proceed.
I will update as I progress and have included a before picture.

as stated in your other thread.

do not use muratic acid. it doesnt stop eating the housing

at most, oxalic acid. the strongest I have ever needed has been simple green and a scotchbrite pad
