Lots of work completed. I have some cleanup grinding to do then tab and gelcoat the engine bay for now till i add the foam which will be easy compared to everything else lol.
I made more progress but sorry no pictures at the moment but going on vacation for a few days and hope to get some then. The tropical system wouldn't allow me to work anyway, hope everyone has a good weekend.
Hello all i am looking for input on fixing the gelcoat in the picture attached. I checked the thread in the stickies but the photos are gone. I intend to brush or roll the area to which I have styrene thinner already.
Thanks Jim
I am not a gelcoat person but 1st order of biz would be to sand it ALL out with 80 grit and see where those spider cracks go. They may disappear which would be nice or you have alot more work to do for prep.
Ok thanks KC! I just wanted to do something with them before the drive gets installed, im replacing alot of the bearings/bushings as well as the normal wear parts so hopefully I don't need to remove it for awhile lol and wanted to do something with this unsightly item.
I hope this isn't a violation of this forum but I just wanted to give a glimpse of what I am replacing on the mechanical side. Not pictured is gimbal bearing/seal, shift cable among some other small items.
I wanted to mention for all of you in the Northeast that there is a fiberglass supplier in Massachusetts called Mertons that has good prices and materials and when i order i usually get it next day normal ground shipping.
Since I had the engine out I made this slight modification to the oil pan so I can change the oil easier without a big mess.
I will have a locking valve on it so no mishaps but slide a hose on the barb and out the transom drain into a pan.
