Re: 81 Glastron SX-190 Transom and Engine- PICS Galore Update 11-8

So my Dad came out today due to the fact it is supposed to get cold again tomorrow. It took us about four hours to get the engine back in and aligned. I will post the video tomorrow. I am just too tired to edit tonight.

One question. When you are aligning the engine, how easy should it be to push in the alignment bar? You will see in the video how much pressure i have to use. It goes it but you give it a little wiggle. From the grease marks on the shaft it is rubbing on the bottom. You cannot adjust the rear up or down, just the front. How would I get it better?

It does look nice. Trim pump, paint and cables look tight, better than new. Looking forward to the video.

Frisco I have never done it but I have read that you should have to adjust the front mount so it raises the front of the motor hence lowering the rear? If memory serve me correctly I/O's forum from the rapido engine swap thread last year. Hope this helps and man that rig keeps looking better and better almost there!

That makes sense fat_fanny. When it warms back up I will give that a shot.

If the coupler is rubbing on the bottom of the bar then the front of the engine needs to go up. If you mean the gimbal bearing is rubbing on the bottom of the bar then the front of the engine needs to go down. Hope that makes sense.

After watching the video it sounds like the front of the engine needs to go down just a hair. You said in the video the allignment bar was hitting the top of the coupler. Letting the front of the engine down will bring the coupler up.

Oh, as long as your gimbal bearing is in correctly the bar should slide into the coupler just as easily as it slides thru the gimbal bearing with maybe a slight resistance due to any grease.

I hope that I got the block drained enough. It is not below freezing here. I put a heater inside the boat to help.

If you have an old blanket or tarp, you can throw that over it as well. However, I think you will be alright inside your garage.

That is the problem. it is outside. The boat is covers with a high quality cover, and I have a heater in there.

Great job on the video Frisco! I think you should be fine on the freezing issue, doubt it will get that cold. I can send you some snow if you need it, lol! Looking forward to hearing her run again! :D:D

Well last night was a long one. We got about 6.5 inches of snow and the wind was just blowing like crazy and kept drifting up on the boat cover. I woke up every couple of hours to brush off the cover and check the temperature inside the cover.

This has been a crazy year for snow. We broke lots of records.

1. The most amount of snow in one winter. Something like 20 inches.
2. Biggest snowfall in one day @ 12.5 inches
3. Most amount of snow storms @ 6

I know this is because I bought a boat last year. Now I am off to enjoy the snow with my kids!

Anyway here are some pictures. The heater inside the cover kept it at a toasty 41 degrees and I wrapped the engine with a blanket. You would think I have a newborn in the house.
