Re: '79 Starcraft SS 16 restoration
Stupid question,.....
Would truck bed liner work for painting a trailer???
Kind of like the "tough cote" they call on the Ranger boat trailers,....
I used some 3M bedliner on my 12 footer and wasn't impressed with it.
It faded in the sun quite a bit, and on a trailer it might collect weeds more than a gloss paint finish.
On the top sides of the trailer tongue it might be good to add some grip, but I bought an adhesive rubber diamond/tread plate piece to put there.
With all the rain we've gotten I have not made a whole lot of progress(Crappie fishing didn't help either
).
I did get quite a bit of rust stripped off the trailer yesterday, still some to go yet.
Also managed to get the last roller brackets removed from the stern end, that will make painting easier.
Photos will be posted later, I'm hoping to get at least the rusty metal primer sprayed tonight.
I need to tell my fishing buddy that I'm working on the trailer after work and not chasing Pike, I hope he will get over it.
I also picked up the Harbor Freight aluminum polishing kit so I can get started on making all the trim shiny and new.
I just have a cordless drill that runs up to 750rpm, so I might be in need of a real buffer/variable speed drill to get it polished correctly. The box says that they require 2800 up to 20,000 depending on which attachment is being used.
