Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Northeast PA....lots of small tin worthy lakes....or small wooden ones....but the great Lakes are just a few miles down the road....and I love Walleye fishing in Erie...and I think the Ebko is just about the right size for a few freinds or family to spend out near Putin Bay...

Well, then Jon Sob is only just over the border into Ohio outside Youngstown.....

Until the move, keep the press on, you'll get the Ebko in towable shape quick at your current pace...

Congrats on the house & pending move, the garage too ;)

Might want to google winter, snow & lake effect...

Congrats Trooper on the move and garage. Assuming there is a house there congrats on that too. I hope you are not like me, check out the place to have a workshop and make an offer based on that. Who needs a house anyhow? :D First house I found in TX had a 30x30 workshop with a steel ibeam running diagnally with a huge electric hoist system attached. I about carped my pants. As if that was not enough, there was an upstairs for storage or whatever, and one could easily put an ac in the wall. Then I was going to deck it out for football games too. I was seeing 3 large tvs on the back wall, the floor with outdoor carpet that looked like a football field, all my favorite players and teams on the walls around us, and a bar in the back corner. Of course that was all nixed when we looked at the house and found huge foundation issues.

You could sell the addition of carport to the ends by telling the Admiral she could have picnics on under cover. ;) You might consider putting a heater and heater in that garage! Congrats

Are you from Middletown, NY?

Thinking about a plan of attack for the gelcoat session...

how does this sound?

start at the top on the keel...walking along the edge...put coats of gel on the inner most area of bottom..then move on to the rest of the bottom and sides from the ground....this way I don't need scaffolding...I'm not stepping on fresh gel either...then flip her, put the cap on...spray the cap...then roll on side and shoot the deck and sides on inside...

Sounds like a good plan. I assume you are doing the bottom of the hull in one session.

Sea ya...

Best wishes and good thoughts sent your way for awesome gelling weather and positive vibes on the new place...now I completely understand your meaning about shipping being close to N.Y...;)

So, I spose you'll gel everything, throw it together for move, then tear it all apart and re-flip it to sand and buff the new gel...or do you plan to have that all done before the big move...?

Happy Thursday!

Thanks AJ,CK,GT,FF...I can't see who all posted that I haven't answered....if I missed you it was not intentional!

I have been leaving tracks all over about this move...trying not to jinx it....just waiting on all the inspections etc now...we are both pretty excited.

I see a splash and hopefully some good ole walleye fishin' in one outing...anyone near or far is welcome to come when it is time :)

Sounds like a big plan. Remember that you will have to go over the gel with the PVA at the right time. Need to get to the keel with it.

Great news about the move and new garage.

The hull looks awesome. You have done some excellent work. It really shows in the pics.

Hope the weather holds for the weekend.

The house looks great too.

If at all possible try to set up a Video station so we can ALL share in the experience. From what I have learned here on the forum, once the process begins you WILL be bizzzzeeeeeeee!!!!! Hopefully you have all the acetone and other supplies all lined up and have rehearsed the spraying/CleanOUt Timing processes. That seems to be the critical area of shooting gelcoat. But hey, I'm just an OLD

Good idea on the video...will see what I can do ...I have planned on doing a dry run with water...getting all the supplies lined up...plan on using MEK for thinning... up to 25% according to what I have found from YD. Will test first...Undecided if I want to go with 1 qt at a time or 750ml...

Wish me luck...think I'll need it!

Best of luck and may all of your plans work out better than expected!

I agree with woody, it would be awesome if you could video tape, and NO, we are not expecting a Spielberg type production...:p

Happy Friday!:D
