Today was launch day:

The boatyard guys were great, gave me some lessons on backing into the slip and everything. It wasn't the greatest weather but I headed out into Raritan Bay anyway to see how she runs.

I'm very pleased with the engine performance. About the only thing I want to change is to put mufflers on it next season, as it's a little loud above 1800 RPM. But it cruises quite nicely at 1500 RPM.

I couldn't get the link button to work but go to Youtube and do a search for "Flounder3906". You'll see 4 new videos there.

She's no speedboat but then again I never thought she would be.

Hey does this mean my thread is going to get moved to the "Completed Boat Projects" section? I kinda hope not. I'm going to miss you guys.

Thanks Jay and RogersJetBoat! I want to wait for some nice smooth water to open it up. (which we do get occasionally on Raritan Bay) I didn't have it above 2000 RPM today, but even at that speed I was very pleased with it.

I think it's going to get great fuel economy, as I was out for a good 3.5 hours today and the fuel gauge only dropped 1/16 of a tank or so.

This weekend it's going to be fishing HQ. I've got relatives coming out of the woodwork all with a fishing pole in hand.

Nice work. Sounds like she runs great. It is always nice to see someone get to enjoy all of their hard work. I agree with everyone else. I would love to see a video with a stop to full throttle run.

I honestly expected to blow a hose or something, so I kept close to shore for the first 45 minutes or so. But it just kept running great and the gauges were all normal so I went out further in the bay.

The only unexpected thing that happened is the wind lifted the center bar on my bimini top out of the socket clamps, so it was flailing around and almost whacked me in the head. I had to pop the boat in neutral and go down in the cabin to get a roll of duct tape, and tape the crap out of it. (I didn't have the right allen wrench to fit the socket clamps).

I can't wait for the weekend already!
