Re: 2011 New England Get Together

Here are my tabulations so far. 1st Choice: 5 for Narragansett Bay and 1 for Lake Quinsigamond..... 2nd Choice: 3 for Lake Quinsigamond. If you haven't already put in your 1st and 2nd choice, please do so. Also, these two potential destinations aren't written in stone. If there's a place you want to suggest, please do so and we'll all talk about it to see if it looks like it will work for the majority of people. FWIW, I was up in Worcester today and I went over to the State Ramp at Lake Quinsigamond. The courtesy docks aren't in the water yet. They're still sitting on the ground but being there made me get very excited for the warm weather. It can't warm up fast enough.

Re: 2011 New England Get Together

Looks like this one turned into a small trailer boaters meet.

I was there last year (I was the blue express cruiser in the photos) but my boat is not a trailer boat. If I can't there from the CT River (takes me 2 hours just to reach Long Island Sound, and then many hours to get anywhere else) then I can't make it.

I will keep an eye on the post, but it sounds like I'm out for this one.

Just got my boat out cleaned up and started last Sunday. I was there last year and it was a fun time. For me the date is more important than the destination.

I am up and running. Everything on Sam I Am has passed the checkout. I was out in Narragansett bay yesterday. Nice day.

As far as dates go, I would LOVE it to be on a Sunday. I work Saturdays from 8am till midnight. That is a big chunk of hours to miss.

So is it Potter's Cove on Prudence Island or between Prudence island and Patience Island?

Donuts,
What's the freeboard and deadrise on that?

I'll have to pass if it's Lake Winnie... too far to trailer my wellcraft and while I could take my Nitro I will 2nd Black Snow's observations... They are are also sticklers about your boat operation license - they won't take any online certifications and require you to take a proctored exam in NH. I have mine from Power Squadron but I'm not sure they would take it...

NH will accept your Power Squadron certificate. From the NH website:

New Hampshire accepts the following boating education certificates:

* A boating certificate issued by another State agency and NASBLA approved.
* A boating certificate issued by the US Power Squadron.
* A boating certificate issued by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.
* An unexpired commercial boating license issued by the US Coast Guard.
* An unexpired commercial boating license issued by the State of New Hampshire.

Patience Island makes sense. Potter's Cove gets too crowded with all the boats on moorings and such. You can beach your boat without a problem over at Patience Island so there's no issue. I think a Sunday sounds great. What month does everyone want to do this? It's too cold right now, that's for sure. Also, anyone with a small boat who is unfamiliar with Narragansett Bay, who might have some questions, please let me know. I'll be happy to help you out. I'm thinking maybe I could meet those with smaller boats at the Bold Point boat ramp in East Providence and we could come down the Providence River and over to Patience Island. Most of the Providence River is very calm. There's even some great spots to stop along the way such as the Hot Club although I think if we stopped there, we would never make it to Patience Island...lol

Thanks! I just may head up there this summer for some bass fish'in. I got the USPS boating cert about 2 months ago and noticed it had "Proctored Exam" on it so I was going to try anyway.... Thanks again for the info!

So whats the consensus? Are we doing both dates? I might have another boat that wants to join us as well.

Re: 2011 New England Get Together

Can we change it to the 4th Sunday of June? I have a family obligation that just came up this morning. I have no wiggle room to be able to get out of it. Sorry to throw this out here on last minute, but some things in life cant be avoided.

4th Sunday in June? Anyone?
