Re: 2011 New England Get Together

Is there a chat of that pond that shows all the rocks? I am spinning 1700.00 worth of props. It looks nice but small. Any of the beaches can you pull the boat up to?

Re: 2011 New England Get Together

Last year was My first year with a boat. Centurion falcon barefoot, My High Five hasn't seen a hit (with me yet!)

I don't have a chart with rocks as they are within 10 ft of shore.

The public beach has eye hooks to moore the boat to. Right of the launch is a sand landing, fits maybe 4 boats.

DEP is there on one weekend day, but I have yet to see him in a boat. He'll ticket you for the norm. too many people, no jackets, noise too loud...etc

Re: 2011 New England Get Together

First post here, but I live in N. Grosvenordale, CT 10 min from the MA boarder.

If your looking for a central body of water 322 acres with avg depths of 20ft (40 at the deepest) and 10ft just 10ft off shore................ Splits MA and RI. concrete 4 boat launch, beach, bathrooms, grill cooktops on shore, parking for about 30 trailers.................

Got you curious??
.
.Wallum lake!

located in Douglas MA, 15 min from the Webster exit. 5$ entrance donation.

Wallum is way too small. I've been there many times over the years. It gets way too crowded on weekends. There's also no place to "sandbar" at Wallum except for that spot to the right of the beach where boats can hook up to the wall but those spots are usually taken by 10:00 AM on a weekend. If not Narragansett Bay, how about Lake Quinsigamond which is in Shrewsbury and Worcester? The boat ramp was completely redone by the State with nice courtesy docks, etc. It will also accomondate Black Snow Slide's 41 inch draft boat. The 722 acre lake is 4.5 miles long with multiple islands. One particular island has two tire swings on it. You can pull your boat up to the island, walk around, jump in the water, etc. There's also a great restaurant where you can dock and dine. Here's the web site: http://www.bucadibeppo.com/locations/location.aspx?location=2112 I have a chart of the lake somewhere. I just have to find it. I know the lake and it's pretty much rock-free which is nice. There's one rocky area and it has hazard buoys marking it. Lastly, the boat ramp is right off of Rt. 290 which is easy to get to from Rt. 495, 146, 190, Mass. Pike, etc. Here's info on the lake: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Quinsigamond

First time I had a boat on Quinsig was a Soling 1M, You can see them being raced on a nice windy monday, just off the docks.
Fun group of fellows, R/C racing, full sail with regatta class rules. Boats are plastic and about 7ft tall keel to mast tip.
Last boat I had in that H2o was the test drive for my first 1 to 1 scale!
Never brought it back to explore, maybe this year!

well if it's a lake there will probably be less people that go and i know that if it's a fresh water pond i'm not going. i'm also looking into getting a sailboat so in salt water i could go pretty far with a sailboat soo.

I think I counted 9 people on this thread. How about posting where it would be convenient for you to meet like a 1st choice and a 2nd choice? Here are mine: 1st choice is anywhere on Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island 2nd choice is Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury/Worcester, Massachusetts

Welcome to the thread and forum. You are not intruding. We welcome you with open beer cans to our little party on the water. We would like everyone to join us. No strangers here.. Just friends you haven't meet yet.

My first choice is Narragansett Bay. Easy for most people to get on the water from multi pull locations.

Second is the lake in Worchester.

First for me would be Quinsig, but only because I've never put the boat in Narragansett bay.
My 20ft Falcon only has 8in of freeboard then I take on water through the transom. If a body of water is too rough, It's not too fun.

Again I've never been there.

Lastly, where's a launching point On Narragansett Bay from Putnam CT? Cost?

Re: 2011 New England Get Together

What date are you guys looking at? I just purchased my wellcraft and while I can use my nitro to go on a fresh water lake I would prefer Narragansett Bay if only for the selfish reason of that's where my wellcraft will be docked. :)

Other than Long Pond in Lakeville/Freetown most lakes around here a pretty shallow/small - not a problem for my bass boat but deep v's may have problems. Mashpee\Wakepee is pretty deep (my sounder showed 80ft in the middle) and has a nice beach but there are shallow spots. Long Pond has some shallow danger areas as well. The other problem with lakes are that most of the decent size ones will have bass tourney's on weekends so there maybe some crowding. Just my 2 cents...

First choice is Narragansett but I'm the newbie so it really doesn't matter to me....

i agree with Narragansett. i will have a sailboat by than so i can go further. Also like i just sayed i would have a sailboat. so ponds are out of the question.
