ready to go fishing indeed,
looks good. as neat as the 2 colors are, i'm loving the sigle color everywhere, sharp really sharp.

i hope you get a resolve with the vinyl guy. i'm guessing he got duped with the cheap stuff.

Wow! Your work is top notch. Makes me feel like a slacker. That hail must have had you yelling some colorful words!

With regard to your question about your Waste Placard, boats over 26 feet are required to display them in a prominent location (exposed near the garbage receptacle is good). Your placard size and language is good and you can relocate it to a spot you find more suitable.

The gloss you're getting is amazing, Budd. A deep rich shine. Sorry to hear about your issues with the gray vinyl.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. The placard is huge so I will move it down to the cabin once its finished. I am really happy with the shine on the hull, thanks again. What was amazing to me is the vinyl looked great for a season then within a couple months you could really see it burning up. weird that non of the other colors did it.

I agree, it is fun to play with the combos but I like the solid colors to. I will be installing some new ones eventually with the 60 lights per meter and might go with some that they call horse race lights. Definately going to try some in the cabin.

Thanks, but your no slacker, your boat is coming along beautifully and you have more space to deal with. The hail had me running quikly, didn't have time to cuss until it was over, lol I am usually more on top of the weather reports, this one surprised me, it was beautiful all day then kaboom!

Dude!! What the hail was that storm all about!?! Glad nothing was hurt/damaged, but WOW!

I knew we had storms here in Middle TN, but I was actually in Williamsburg, VA last week. Nashville got a little hail, but not quite like that. Your next remodeling project is going to be making the garage tall enough to park that slick lookin' ship of yours!

Nice work on her, she looks fantastic.

Yeah I got the remote eyes mouted close because thats as far as they would reach. Will be heading to radio shack soon. The other controller I have didn't have a remote eye at all and it would turn these things on a half mile away. It also had a plug in for a stereo to beat to the music.

Right now I am just controlling them as one with one remote. Will be changed in the future once I figure something out, but for now atleast everything is hooked up and working.;)

Thanks man!:) You are right sir, I mean really right! As soon as I have the funds, the roof/trusses are coming off the delapitated garage and it is being lengthened and raised to house the boat. We have had some rough weather here the last couple years, have seen the intensity of the storm really increasing and more often. Sucks, but it is in the extended tornado alley. :(

Ok, silly post maybe, but I cleaned up the fenders today. They had the normal black spot, dirt scum stuff that you get every season. i found another good use for that Starbright streak remover stuff. cleaned them right up.:)

Umm, this is a real stretch, but lighting related? Possibly a lit logo or boat name? Seems to be just about long enough for DahlFins II, or there abouts:D

EDIT: dag nab it, lil buggy beat me to it

Damn, you guys are almost good, lol :D It is the new shadow box for the already installed logo in the electro box. It will get a small sliver cut out of one end to slide the light strip in once it is mounted to the back of the existing logo peice. And yes, there might be some more backlit stuff in the future, but not on the stern.;):)

The electronics box has a vhf, radio, and two storage boxes installed. There is probably only about 4 inches of space from those components to the front cover with much wiring and cables in there. the storage slide ins I used are perfect for wallets/rgb controllers etc.

Fenders and backlighting box look great!

thankyou sir. :) But the box didn't work.

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Can't believe I am still tweaking this electronics box logo. Arggh. The little box i made just didn't work. The light needs more space to light properly and I couldn't make it any wider do to the opening restrictions. So i went back to just installing a reflective peice of starboard in the electronics box but larger this time to conceal everything behind it. Wires, components etc.

I also added a nother strip inside the box because the first strip was to short to spread light evenly. I left it in there and just added a second strip next to it.

Detailed the 'a' and the 'f' in the chris craft name also.

I think I'm done with the logo, looks good enough for me.

She is ready to go fishing!!!!

I'm sorry to do this to you Budd but, no, she isn't.... You NEED a ring of lights between the hardtop and the radar dome to light up the top or better yet, more wood around the perimeter of the hardtop with lights shining in on the dome... That would be just flat out PIMP!

Plus it's an excuse for MORE lights!

Thanks man, the little details are where its at! :D I am definately proud of what the boat looks like now. I just have to finish the interior and the big projects will be done, speaking of which, lol:facepalm: Its funny, not to many people will ever know around here how much work went into getting her looking this way.:p

And you think I haven't already thought of that, lmao. I was thinking about making a halo that would shine above the boat, lol Then I thought , I can't do that because i have a little devil in me.

I am adding something up there, and it will be a nice little touch of teak. You,ll see, it will be very suttle. :)

I still have plenty of leds to do in the cabin and wait until you see what kind I am getting for in there. If I really like them I will be replacing the exterior lights also.

By the way, that top is pretty lit up with the light from the all around light at night. I wonder if I would get a ticket if I had all my rgbs on and not my anchor light. Hmmmm.

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Ok, here is the start of a very long project, because I really don't care if it gets finished before next spring. Remember, the primary purpose of this boat is fishing still.

The interior/cabin got some recycled speakers in her today. I had some 6x9 alpine speakers that I had removed from the jeep years ago. then installed them in a not so good place in the boat inside the old gunwale rod holders. Replaced the rod holders and never put speakers back in.

Didn't want to use these on the outside, because they are not white. I want the speakers outside to basically not be seen. So I installed the speakers in the cabin. They worked out well in there and sound great.

These were the old speakers, i think original to the boat. They had a very low profile and a very shallow cone on the back that fit great between the inner hull and outer hull. But they sounded as good as a old battery radio.lol

I used the existing hole/location. didn't even have to cut the hole larger for the 6x9s because I had extention boxes specifically for 6x9 speakers. It worked great. These are located just above the v shelf that goes all around the cabin.

You can see the extension box better here. It also gives it like a little bass box.

Also started to deck the river project today after much framing and straightening out old fingers/dock.

The decking should go pretty quikly. I layed about 70 pieces by myself today, screwed down with stainless screws and boards spaced 5/8 of an inch so water can rise through the decking. Actually got further than this today, just forgot to take a pic before I left.

Also saw a very cool old houseboat. I think if chris craft would have made a houseboat it would have looked something like this.

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Started to clean up the cabin as well. The cabin was full of about 1 inch of fiberglass dust everywhere. Still have alot to clean up but atleast its started. Will be removing the windows and resealing everything shortly. maybe next week.

I will be doing some build-up fairing throughout the rest of the spring and summer. Still have some grindiing to do first so this clean-up will be repeated and yes, the speakers will be removed everytime.

woodywax2012644.jpg

Think I have a good plan put together for the interior. It will be pretty straight forward and clean looking and comfortable. and of coarse some cool lighting.

Does this count as having leds in the cabin, lol
