Thanks, the Georgia family is fine. We get our share of tornado's here too, as you know, but what ya'll got was amazing.

I'll post up some photo's of my progress as I make some. She's under wrap and covered in snow in Michigan for a couple more weeks before I can start up again.

I started a thread back in August when we were first deciding to buy her. After we did, we spent a great deal of time cleaning and redecorating the cabin. I've got a few photos of that process. I may post up there and, if I do, I'll let you know.

I think it'll be fine.... it softened and fell off of the underside of my wiper cowl on my dually but the under hood heat with the turbo glowing red 3" away and 130 degree asphalt below is WAY WAY more than the engine room temp of a boat with watercooled exhaust.

I also used it on my firewall behind the factory deadener and it is doing great!

FWIW my engine room is the same as yours.... my 3 hatches are 1 foot behind the helm seat and I plan to use it on my hatches and the back wall of my aft cab (engine room side) along with any other panel that looks like it would transfer noise to the passenger areas.

Thanks, smoke. Good idea on adding some to the bulkhead too. I want quiet!

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Not to derail this discussion of lights, Budd, but a few weeks back you were working on your engine cover and smoke suggested using Quick Roof. One of my urgent projects is to quiet my engine noise down. My engines sit directly below the helm seats under 3 side-by-side fiberglass floor panels. Great access and good clearance, but these panels act like kettle drums and resonate all of the sound from below. I've gotten a few recommendations from guys here, but that Quick Roof stuff looks ideal for the underside of my deck.

Do either of you have any concerns about it sticking suspended above the engine like that? Smell? Flamability? My fuel tanks are mounted outboard of each engine vertically and it looks like this Quick Roof might adhere to those as well. I thought about closed-cell foam around the engine compartment, but this looks like it might work better.

Yeah smoke has pointed you in the right direction already. Just wanted to add, this stuff is all over youtube also where people have used it in the cars, the entire chassis basically. I would be more worried about extreme cold, but if this can be used for roof patch/water proofing, i don't forsee much problems. It has no smell at all.

Plus it just looks cool, lol :)

That does look cool. I did some looking around on the net and did find guys talking about using it in cars. Comments were both good and bad.

I read those blogs and, frankly, I trust you guys (iBoats guys in general) a whole lot more than some kid tweakin' his rice-burner and trying to get his trunk not to rattle when he cranks his hip hop through speakers bigger than those in my house! Seriously, look at the quality work you are doing, or smoke, or McCranney or CC, or jasoutside, or any of the guys on here. Look at the care taken here, the love of craft and the quality and purpose displayed by those who post here. There is no comparison. To read the posts of some snot-nosed punk in a hoodie and $200 bright-white sneakers, who's never used a comma or a capital letter in his life, trying to make a point in his thread about the quality of this sound dampener over that one is simply mind boggling and more than I could take or trust.

<whew>...please pardon the rant....I got carried away...carry on.

Great attention to detail!!!!The teak work is great!!!
You might want to consider making covers for the brightwork!!!
Makes it last 5-6 times longer.
Actual Sunbrella allows sunlight through.
Be carefull and if you decide to make covers.Make sure the corners aren't chaffing the paint!!
Cheap plastic tarps can be used as sandpaper.
I had a 32 with a teak platform and bow pulpit.Every year I was doing the teak and never was satisfied.
I ended up doing the remove and fix and finnaly paint. Then I got covers. It lasted till I sold the boat 5 years later.
Again GREAT detail!!! Very impressive.
Thanks for the post!! Jerry

Jerry, thanks for joining us. I will be removing the teak during the winter and the teak has close to ten coats of varnish on everything. Should last a good while, but covers would probably be smart, but then I got more stuff on the boat, lol We wwill just see how long it lasts and how it looks after the first season. Thanks for the complements, much appreciated. :)

Still loving this thread. Seeing progress motivates me to keep plugging along!
And having people follow along help keep me motivated, got to get things done so I can post.:D Thanks man.

Speaking of posting, do you guys ever have a problem getting your boat on the trailer all the way up to the bow roller, seems I have this issue and just can't get the last few inches! Haha.

Also, do you guys think my trailer is to short? Looks to be a little short:eek::D

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Ok, joking aside, Don't try this at home kids, lol I hooked up two straps, one to a fence post and the other to the metal security iron on my basement window. No, I'm not trying to break someone out of the basement, lol I hooked these to the stern eyes on the boat. tightened the straps and then loosened the front cable on the trailer. Then pulled the trailer forward slowly until I was far enough forward to get the areas under the rollers sanded down.

No worries because I installed a 3 ton jack at first followed up with a 30 ton jack at the stern keel area. Was solid to work under and I even threw some wheel chocks under the truck tires just to be safe. I know I could just remove the trailer completly and block it, but I don't have the room for the trialer, truck, and boat in my drive, so this is how it will be.

Tomarrow I am off, and plan to get the sections sanded forward and aft of the rollers in the middle. Suppose to snow, but I can't think of anywhere better to be than under the boat while it is snowing, The stern got sanded today with 600 film paper. Will have to finish these areas to a wax coat so I can back the trailer back under her. Then I can finish the rest of the areas.

Anyway, here are some pics.

Scary how we tend to come up with the same ideas while working on our boats...

I did the same thing back when I was pulling the trailer out from under the boat while getting it ready for the big teardown and resto... the only difference is my fence post now has a slight lean to it and the gate doesn't quite close right...

Looking Awesome as always, CC

PS- glad to hear the big blows didn't take you Dorothy-ville[aka-OZ]

Thoughts and Prayers to all who were affected.

Thanks, it wasn't hard to figure out I had to use the hp of the truck to pull the trailer out after I about severed my spine trying to push it off,lol

Ditto ^^^^ that! I feel for the ones suffering right now, especially the loss of life. Just terrable!

The post I used was installed by me, so I knew it had enough strength, corner post for one and 2 bags of crete 3 ft in the ground. I was more worried about the rod iron security thingy, lol I did manage to bend it a little, lol:p just good I didn't hurt or bend the boat.:D

Heres a couple more pics.
