Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)
The ship has landed, lol, well, not really, just a sneak peek again. I don't want to ruin the final reveal when its all done
First off, a little info on the led lights. I bought cheaper lights this time because I'm broke, lol No really, I'm broke, Thats what almost a year of not working will do for ya. so basically I am playing catch up as far as funds go. Anyway, I was surprised when I went online and really started to look at the products available. You can really get these lights and the controllers cheap. Alot cheaper than I paid before.
Now, that being said, I can definately tell a difference between the quality of the lights that Rob supplies and his service is great, plus he has a 1 year warranty. Robs lights have 6 small leds for every 3 inches or between cut points. The ones I purchased this time have only three lights between cut points. Also the adhesive is questionable. They stick fine, but not sure how long they will stay. we will see.
Anyway, the lights actually turned out perfect for the bow application, because they definately are not as bright as Robs lights at Xtremeled. I think the little leds themselves are as bright, there are just less of them on a roll. For my purpose here, they really will work well because there is less space to light up around the wa compared to the stern area.
These first pics really shows why putting these lights buried inside a piece of trim pointing down works well. The deeper they are buried, the less light spread you will have. The light is not allowed to go outward and cause alot of glare. I think it will be a non issue having these on at night and still be able to see clearly over the bow or underway. You will also see I still have some serious adjusting to do on the forward trim, that will be done before varnish.
