The first time I pulled up to 12 mile island with the leds lights on,, they had a birthday party going on and everyone thought I was the popo. It was pretty funny seeing everyone underage hiding there beverages. Spot light lit them right up,lmao. I did manage to get a few beers that night from some cute little 20 something,lol:facepalm::D

Great work as usual. I love the teak addition to the cockpit!
Thankyou sir, you talking about the bow trim?

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Ran a test spot on the bottom today when i got off work. This area was "random orbital sanded" or da sanded with the 600 film discs, them 3m compounded. Not sure I will even have to go further than the 800 film, but surely not any further than the 1200 film discs and 3m compound. Going to shine like a new penny!! :D:D:D

Hoping to have the whole bottom sanded off by the end of this coming weekend. We'll see.

By the way, rough life today, this was my work space, rebuilding and installing about a 4000 square foot deck for the next month. Only thing that sucks is it makes you want to be out boating even more.;) rather be working on my boat as well.

I see a day or 2 worth of work this week, get 1 leg completely decked & then a 'wet' commute to work! Eagle bow, lights, teak & all!

Having all them LED's lit up should even let you slip into the water & half way to 'work' under cover of darkness!

Heck, private boat ramp right there. Maybe just trailer it over, slip it into the water & leave it parked 'on' the trailer. Take lunch on your stern deck, looking out on the river............. Be a nice place for Lucifer to keep an eye on ya whilst ya work!;)

Have a 'rough' work week.

Lol, don't think I haven't thought about it! I spent most of last year doing just that when I was rebuilding a houseboat for a customer. But the boat stayed slipped most of last year. And yes Batman went with me.:D

This dock has about a foot of water under it, until it is dredged, no boats are getting in there unless they want to just beach there boat, lol.

I am removing all decking, filling/framing in some areas and adding to it on the downstream side which is left in the pics. The entire thing will be decked with a trex material with new rub rail and the part that is right below the rip rap will also be decked with stairs leading down to it all. Going to tie in the decking right to the curvature of the rock. Should be a stand out project once its all done.

I feel really bad for the guy, this is his summer hang out and he has about a 2 million dollar remodel going on on the house right now also. poor guy. :p

Yeah, ain't life a beech! I take solace in knowing the Ohio breaches it's banks more then rarely. No river place, no need to worry when god ain't willing & the creek does rise! I've motored up to the doorsill of more then a few houses in southern & western Louisville and some up River Rd up past Prospect & into Goshen. And been on River Rd down near Cox's Park when the parking lot & the whole road were both underwater.

Nice place to score a long term project! Keep thinking that at least your working, getting paid AND on the water too. Makes getting the bottom done on yours & enjoying the CC even better when you finish it!

Tell Batman to give you a little time & he'll be back in action on HIS doghouse post at the stern!

I'm not complaining at all, I love to work down at the river. This is a nice place, off rose island rd, belknap beach, nice little community there.

Batman has been keeping a close eye on the projects through the window, he knows spring is coming. I told him the engine cover project was specifically for him, so its quieter and more sturdy to stand/sit/lay on. lol Its kinda funny because I think he understands that is definately his boat. i'm just lucky he shares it with me. Think he want a build in feed station though:D

Hopefully, when the new dock is done, you can score some dock privileges from the 'poor' owner.:) Yep, Rose Island Rd, back when you passed the buffalo's, bison, & beefalo's driving out to the river from 42.

Have a great week, hope the weather cooperates.

Look forward to seeing your progress man. Gotta start a thread soon.

The nay sayers weren't really nay sayers. I have been hearing Da sander, Da sander, da sander over and over for years on these threads, and really just thought it was something air powered and special.

My dumb azz came to find out I already have like three of them in the garage. My rotary sanders are da sanders, or better known to me in my field as a "random orbital". So basically I already had the right tool for the job. The film paper is awesome, it basically buffs the gelcoat as you are sanding. I think 600 film does alot better job than just regular 600 grit disk sand paper.

I am hoping to get some side jobs working on some boats installing leds. Since I already had the rgb controller from rob, I went ahead and bought cheap on the lights this time. Guess what came in the mail today! Ohhh yeah:D

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

We had tornado warnings this morning, so the boat got tucked back in next to the house, I could have stood there all day starring at the shine on this thing now! It just looks amazing to me. I love gel coating.

Went to work on her when I got home today for about an hour, sanded the stern area behind the stern rollers down with the da sander and some 600 grit film paper. Then compounded by hand and wiped off/buffed. Not sure I need to even go to a higher grit!

Its horrible..shoddy...shameful... You should be embarrassed.

Sorry, just had to mix it up a little, because I feel like I have "awesome job" on repeat/rinse cycle on this thread...(which is the truth). Great job on making this boat really something special. You were cracking me up about breaking up the teenage river party with your lights... Rumor has it that the Saturday Night Fever sound and light crew has eyes your boat for the upcoming remake....

Thanks man, Hopefully I can keep her looking like glass. Once done with the sanding/compounding, it will be onto a few coats of woodys TripleXXX wax. i truly have found no better wax. Really like the stuff.

I will be following your thread for sure. ;)
