Dude that is such a pita. I have taken the antifoul of of a few boats and I hope to never do it again. I used a product called aircraft remover. and a pressure washer.

The photo looks great, was any of the strippers much less effort or money well spent(paid more for stripper that worked better or was less work to remove is good) then the oven cleaner that looked like it worked, but required alot of elbow grease to get 100%?

Really going to look good, but man that's alot of hull to have to sand through to 1500, after stripping, and before rubbing compound and wax:eek:. Wax on Wax off, 1st with the left, then w/ the right!:D We don't want you to bulk up unevenly doing all that work right handed.

Have a good day off today.

The videos above show the results of the strippers. Will be more to come as I go along. I definately should be in shape once I have scraped all this bottom paint, or in the hospital, one of the two.

Ummmm, NOT! lmao Especially since you haven't showed up yet to help scrape the bottom, lol:mad: I will just throw a for sale sign up on your boat for $250.00 bucks and list it on craigslist with no title! Someone will come drag it off, lol:D

It is the biggest pita so far by far!!! But I knew it would be. I have heard of a few using the aircraft stripper, but it is some really strong shizzit! No gelcoat safe either.

I am trying to salvage the gelcoating and am trying to be kinda gental as I proceed with strippers.

I have been told that using something that isn't gelcoat safe will soften the gelcoating just like the paint. I have had the best results from the one non-safe stripper though. Just being careful not to leave it on to long and not using it when I get almost down to gel.

The safe strippers I can say, just suck. They are fine for the outer coat, but don't touch the hard coats of paint under the top coat.

I will get this done one way or another. ;)

Feels GREAT to get the starboard side done. Hopefully get the stern and the other side done over the football weekend. Going to have to set up a big screen out in the driveway, lol

Based on this photo, yo just need you neighbor to set a TV in that window in the upper right, & you can watch the game from anywhere along the starboard side of the hull!:D If only the bottom was small & as easy to work as the sides.........

Looking good! Almost game ready!

Hey CC,
Looking through your adventures with strippers and I remembered something I used to use that is fairly effective and somewhat safe...
Believe it or not...Pine-Sol...yep, the stuff that used to clean around the house...using your wax paper or even cellophane wrap to cover it and keep it moist, it would remove most any paint, however, I don't know how well it would work with bottom paint.
It is also one of those that the longer you leave on, the better it works...
It is also relatively cheap compared to the chemical strippers...if it works...
Another paint remover I have used in the past is good 'ol Brake Fluid...
Anyhow, it looks like the chemical stripper from Kleen Strip you are using seems to be working good...
Real nice shine

Yeah, I won't be on the home stretch until all the bottom paint is removed, then it will just be wet sanding and a few knick repairs. Hopefully thats all it is!

Well, since the neighbor is in jail for breaking into my other neighbors home, i don't think that will be an option. Seriously, he picked the right home, because he would have gotten eaten or shot over here.

The bottom will definately be a back breaker, just going to take it a couple hours at a time. I figure about 260 square feet to go:eek:

Its definately been a challenge finding the right stripper. I am still looking. i actually have used pinesol before, but it won't touch this stuff. Its like chipping off really well adhered concrete. Will continue testing different strippers as I go along. the klean strip has been the best one so far.

Now if I could just get smoke over here to scrape the rest off the bottom for me,lol

Stern is sanded off, port side as well. Also got a chance to get under her a little. Under her, hmmm. Anyway, it was a great day. may have gotten lucky with the "bottom" bottom paint. It seems like it is coming off just with a scraper right down to the gel coating. Hope it stays that way!:)

Hopefully the giants can win now to conclude the day.

I Know, I know, after all that testing, the bottom is just going to fall off, lmao. I doubt it:p HELL YEAH GIANTS!!!!! WHOOO HOOOOO:D

Thanks man, I am super excited to be on my way to a clean/no paint hull.:D

Nah, the neighbor is a scumbag and he knows I know it! I'm the one that got him busted. Went over after the cops had left and noticed some scrapes on the algae on the galvanized fence where he had hoped the fence. They traced the footprints leading right back into his home. DumbaZZ walked through the mud. What an idiot. Anyway, he knows the whole neighborhood knows, I doubt after I talk with his landlord that he will be able to stay long. He has been in jail now for a while, repeat. I have my Kimber .45 loaded with extra loaded clips, security cameras on and my German Shepherd does a bang up job of playing gaurd dog. You would have to shoot him to get in this house.

Here is a closer shot of the two chines and the bottom area that I was able to just scrape of in about 5 minutes. It was getting dark and the game was about to start but I managed to get the two chines sanded off.

The area that is light blue is what I am left with to sand off. The bottom is scraping right down to the gelcoating. Like I said before, hope it continues to. Should be able to work on her again today for a couple hours..

Well, I can't sleep because I have some design ideas rolling through my brain for the boat. So I figured I would get on here and derail my own thread, lol

These are pictures of my best buddy, Lucifer, AKA Batman. Batman for two reasons, his ears when looking through the window into my house at night, look like batman is staring you down and he will sneak up on you without making a sound. He's freaking awesome. He truly is my best buddy, we have a blast together.

Keeping an eye on the delapitated garage, lol

Mighty nice looking buddy you have there!:) 1 of mine is a water dog too. He'd have to be wearing a PFD to go out on the boat, he's not a swimmer. His stubby, little jack russell legs, let him down in the swimming department, but neck deep, yeah, every chance he can!

Progress. Looks like the bottom paint is all going to scrape off without stripper. It is scraping right down to the gelcoat. Will have to wetsand but this should cut the stripping time in half!

Got down to the keel today! Woohoo! Felt like a mile stone was met. Also scraped back to the first set of rollers. Did not get a chance to wet sand it all, but here is whats done.

Yeah, lucky break for sure, appreciate it! I have 3 kimbers, would not own another gun after firing these. Although, I can say, probably not more than 100 rounds through all of them. To busy working on the boat to burn money at the range, lol
