Lol, hey man, Thanks for looking her over. And welcome aboard! I'm hoping to be done with her by spring. I would be more than happy to lend a helping hand on the Center console you have. ;) I am sure with your experiences it will look great when you are done with her. Hope to see you on the water soon. :)

Burgers sound good Kevin, not so sure about the body work, lol:) Let me get mine done first!:p And yes, I do put in at harrods creek. Its ok until you have alot of traffic on the weekends. Luckily I usually put in early or late or before the weekend get s there. You won't find me putting in up a coxs park, to much current and to much grade.

I'm trying to wrap my head around doing a roll n tip job and maybe reworking the front deck to have fish boxes on each side and drop the floor in the center for seating while cruising.... UGH!....... I launch just up the river from you.... just past 12 mile..... small world...... hope the O/P doesn't get sore at us for hijacking lol

Hey Kevin, I really like this fiberglass place http://www.fiberglasssite.com/servlet/StoreFront There products seem cheaper than other places. Might be worth a look at if your getting into all that. I have done some pretty big houseboat projects around the area but am far from an expert on glassing. Its not hard, just irritating sometimes. Roll and tip works well if the prep is done right to begin with.

As you know OPPS is a good resource for technical info among others here. I like to watch the rebuilds a Classicmako.com also.

I know the ramp your talking about. We will have to hook up sometime in the spring, maybe go throw some hooks.

To be honest my time right now is limited. Had a rough year medically, got hit in the head by my dog believe it or not,lol Was down with different symtoms for like 8 months. My business suffered bad, so looking to get back to work and get some income rolling again. I'm sqeezing the boat projects in at night and during the weekends now. Going to be working on the engine cover again today.

that site looks like it has some pretty good prices... thanks Kinda scary tho to take a circular saw to a perfect deck.

I ustafish.... might could again! lol

I feel ur pain on the head injury, I got hit in a head on collision a couple years ago...... rocked my world... completely understand the money thing too. I am really counting on the keystone pipeline project that (politics omitted :D) seems to just keep getting postponed.

You REALLY are doing a first rate job.... you MAY just have to saw that boat into quarters so you can stretch AND widen it thus extending a challenge for top'o'the mountain to you know who LOL

Thankyou sir :) I appreciate the complement.

Is that the work you do? Pipe layer, heavy equipment? Think I bought a big enough boat for me,lol Don't see me chopping it up, I would just opt to buy a bigger one. Probably cheaper and definately a whole lot less work. Hell, this engine cover and interior work will be more than enough glass work for me. Pita, but hopefully will be nice when I get done.;)

Glassed in all the supports for the engine cover and grinded the cover down semi smooth. Have a few air pockets to square away and a little more glassing/resin to do. But it is coming along nicely. The cover is so fricken strong now. No flex at all.

I have some rubber membrane roofing material that I am contemplating using as a sound barrier. It seems to be very similar to some of the sound barrier materials I am finding online. may give it a shot and see how it performs. After all its free, its left over material of some flat roof installs I have done.

That engine cover looks like you could support the entire boat with it...Great Job!

What are you going to use to adhere the membrane to the inside of the cover...???

Thanks man, maybe I will use it to prop the boat up to finish stripping the bottom paint, lol:eek:

The rubber membrane has a specific adhesive, its like a contact adhesive but made for high heat roofing material.

I may install foam first then the rubber. Or rubber, foam, rubber to give the sound multiple densities to work through

I've used quickroof for sound deadening before it is VERY similar to dynomat. You might consider adding that to your plan.

Yeah I work as a heavy equipment operator, or pulling a lowboy hauling equipment. Done a bit of boat transporting but lost my donkey on that.

Plan, whats that, lol I guess I sorta have a plan.;) That stuff looks great. Then I could just adhere it and not worry about some adhesive. Might be easier to install with all the edges I have. Thanks for the tip.

Kevin, what did you use it on? Good results? I have looked up some videos of it where people are using it in there cars. I'm thinking one coat of the quikroof, opencell foam and then a layer of quickroof over the top of everything. Maybe two layers over everything. Think I'm going to be skipping the gel coating. no need for it really. Thanks again.

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

I used it on my firewall behind the factory sound deadener and under the wiper cowl of my powerstroke truck when I swapped engines last winter.... It made a HUGE difference. The stuff under the wiper cowl melted above the turbo (1000+ degrees) while towing a 48' trailer in Florida summer heat so I removed it from the wiper cowl but the stuff on the firewall is holding up great.... On your engine cover, apply one layer to the cover and then the foam... I wouldn't think the second layer of quickroof would be needed.

I'm planning on putting just the quickroof under my engine hatches and behind the genny on the back wall of the aft cab on my montecarlo at some point.

Sounds good Kevin. The reason for the second coat is to seal off the foam from the heat of the motor. I like that it has that foil face. Should look pretty good. I'm planing on installing the foam even with the framing structures I installed and sand it down even to match the profile of the framing. Only thing is covering the foam, I thin I may have to staple the rubber I have in to the frame because I don't think anything with self stick will adhere well to the foam.

Hell, i may just try the quickkroof stuff all by itsself first and go from there if it needs more sound proofing. The motor noise really doesn't bother me much, just thought I might as well do it since I was stiffening up the cover.

Going to pick a couple rolls up tomarrow. hopefully the home depot here has it in stock.

Yeah no problem Barry LOL

If you use foam use soft foam... the rigid stuff is acoustically nearly invisible. I think you'll be very happy with just one layer.... Home depot in clarksville has quickroof in stock, in the extreme right rear corner of the store... I think it was $7.00 per roll.

I keep doing that, There is a keith on another forum I frequent. lol I think I changed it as you were typing. You just have to stop reading before I have a chance to edit!;)

Think I will try two layers on top of each other so I can lay it in two different directions to cover the seams of the first layer. can't hurt. Be great if it is only $7 bucks a roll. I heard $15 a roll. Thanks again, you might have saved me some work. Think it will be fun rolling this stuff it and forming it to the cover.:)

yeah, it's easy to work with... I overlapped it by 1/2 inch. whoops, looking online it looks like $16.45/roll.... I really don't think I payed that much but maybe.....
