I tried using the chat function on the iBoats store page and they referred me to the Trim tab sizing chart. I had already tried that first, but my boat didn't have a close match on some of the options and was right in the middle of two different options for others. The iBoats help desk guy gave up and referred me to Nauticus (the trim tab manufacturer) for help. So I submitted an email request to their customer service department for help in figuring out which one would work best for my application. I gave them all the details I had so hopefully they can get it sorted out. It looks like it's most likely going to be either the 60 series model I posted above, or possibly one step smaller with the 40 series unit.

mickyryan C'mon now, doesn't everybody need to know what their boat can do at WOT? :D I say that now, but watch me chicken out when it's my turn to try to see what my Laker will do. I'll definitely need to get a decent amount of seat time to get VERY comfortable with it before I attempt anything like a flat out WOT run. Those high 90's / low 100's speed estimates I got from that online speed calculator had me in a state of shock for a bit. :faint2: I was actually glad to hear the general consensus was that particular speed calculator was being quite a bit optimistic. Whatever it is, I'm sure I'll figure it out sooner or later.:plane:

I'd love to hear what you think of them after you get a chance to try them out. I'm thinking of getting a set for the Laker I'm building. It's going to be about 16.5-17' and use a 115 Merc, so it looks like I'd need the one for 15'-19' long hulls and 60-150HP (model# SX9510-60BL) according to the specs on the iBoats store. http://www.iboats.com/Nauticus-SX-Sm...view_id.352485

My boat will probably be right around 1,000 lbs with fuel, oil and driver, so it should scoot along at a pretty good clip (estimating 60-70ish?). My only concern is that with the speeds my boat should be capable of, it might overpower the nitrogen shocks with that light of a boat. I haven't heard any first hand reviews yet to say if there's any merit to one way or the other.

Your speed sounds close. My 15' gt150 with a 115 merc will get up to about 45-50 mph according to my gps at wot but that is with a 17 pitch prop. I don't have a whale tail or tabs. Sorry for the high jack mick

I installed manual hydraulic tabs on the fishing tub, really useful for leveling out to compensate for uneven load as well as forcing it to plane early - and yeah they do look cool hangin off the back

I'm trying to decide where to put rod holders , for trolling, might just put them on the motor box. oh and I have a confession ,
I can not use a open faced ree!!!l rofl never was a big cast fishing guy , and every time I tried using anything but a closed face I got tangles ugh it pissed me off :)

It's all about the line tension with an open face. If that's off it'll spit all your line out every time you try to cast. I'd show you in person if I lived closer to you. Believe it or not, I suck at using closed face reels. How is that even possible?!?!

Rod holders are a fine idea, but don't forget the bikini holders. Gotta give them somewhere to hang those out to dry right?:D

Going the old Zebco route huh Mick? lol. maybe you could get the snoopy one for pan fish and the GI Joe one for the big ones. :D I have a few closed reels that my nephew and nieces used when they where younger. I took one out with me last year and found that it casted better than my reel. it was just a pain reeling it in, it had a real steep gear ratio and took twice the turns to get the line back in.

as we stood on the dock i realized all the old folks were checking my boat out and the 8 young females walked right past and got on this guys quad engine 30 ft center console i realized i wasn't attracting females with this boat :) I am safer for it as well cause i know my lil italian woman would slit my throat if she saw 4 young girls on the boat :)

If you have a deck in your back yard you could practice an open reel style while noone looks..ROFL.
