I would guess the Jets are one of the ways they made more power. I doubt they'd be too big for the 120 though. run it wide open or close and shut her off. pull a plug and take a looksie. only way to tell if the engine sounds good like it should with a slightly larger jet.

guess who gets iboats retard of the week award?:) <<~~ this guy rt here ..... the boat was out of gas... never trust a damn brand new sending unit and 200 dollar set of gauges I guess is the moral of the story here ... now should I just go with electric and be done with the mechanicals or take all the stuff back .. decisions decisions.. sending unit was stuck on 3/4 ugh!

Hmmm. Just run the boat again, check gauges, Feel good and swap out when you feel like if they are working. At least you test the motor if you adjust gauges.
I had some gas last night!! :joyous:

I would stick with mechanical - they dont fail, and they dont make a noise when running.

well I hooked up the electronic already :) like the idea that when it does fail it don't flood the engine with fuel, onj another note I believe my bogging problem is timing , I cant seem to get the timing to move the way it should even by setting it at 1 btc with jumpers on , when I pull jumpers off it don't do anything different , so I got another module and tried that yet that one seems to be trying to advance the timing after dead center ugh lol not sure about modules so I am going to purchase a brand new one for mercruser and have a stab at that .

yeah definitely think its the Est some one must have used a auto module because it wont advance so basically engine ran like a top at idle got on water and couldn't pull itself onto a plane :)_ the most I got out of it advancing was 8 degrees btdc with timing light on it and the second one was advancing not retarding so both must be automotive ones that require computer to run properly?

ordered my smart tabs tonight I'm excited :)
I'd love to hear what you think of them after you get a chance to try them out. I'm thinking of getting a set for the Laker I'm building. It's going to be about 16.5-17' and use a 115 Merc, so it looks like I'd need the one for 15'-19' long hulls and 60-150HP (model# SX9510-60BL) according to the specs on the iBoats store. http://www.iboats.com/Nauticus-SX-S...2877313--session_id.712087828--view_id.352485

My boat will probably be right around 1,000 lbs with fuel, oil and driver, so it should scoot along at a pretty good clip (estimating 60-70ish?). My only concern is that with the speeds my boat should be capable of, it might overpower the nitrogen shocks with that light of a boat. I haven't heard any first hand reviews yet to say if there's any merit to one way or the other.

those are the ones Iam getting so I will report back findings I just got the wail tail on there and wanna try that to see difference , I'm more low speed then high speed though so I will have to push it to see what it does on top for ya :0
as far as that speed you should be fine the 60 lb shocks are for bigger , I would suggest you might even look into the 40's to reduce drag the 60 might be too stiff

I hear you. Photobucket is killing me with their ads. I sometimes can't access my photos because there is an ad I can't close. I've had to type in the web address just to get by the ad. If I change though, all my build picks will disappear from my thread so....

I have smart tabs on my MFG .. I do like them .. The only draw back I have heard is they make the boat get a little funky if your in the ocean in following seas ..
Most larger boats have adjustable tabs from what I have seen ...
