FWIW Patrick, everything on your's looks like mine so far, so here is my before transom.

IMAG0062.jpg

It's pretty hard to read that scale, that is a little over 2 1/8".

I glued up one sheet of older actual 3/4 ply, one of 23/32 Auruco, and one of 15/32 Auruco and the 1/8 fiberglass on mine and it fit like a glove.

It needs to fit the bottom tray, measure that someplace where it is in good shape and you should be good.

I had some big "dimples" in my transom around most of the holes. I used two 4" round 3/8" thick aluminum plates with a hole in the center of each, one inside and one out with a 3/8-24 bolt and nut to "draw" them back to mostly flat, then used "Tiger Hair" filler to close all the unwanted holes. You could do the same thing with 6" long 2x6 wooden blocks with a hole right in the middle. Put one on the inside and one outside, run the bolt through them both, spin the nut on, then tighten it down to flatten the transom between them.

Yah buddy, that's a nasty crack. Our confused glasser brotha decker has good advice with drilling out the crack ends there. That, plus an alum plate on the back you'll be golden;)

I am so glad that I took the time to build in that baitwell. Huge addition to my boat. My littlens love it! I suspect that will be the same on your rig too:)

Yah JB, I hear ya, Captain Bottom Feeder signing off;)

The dent you're going to cover with an exterior motor plate of some sort that goes out past that right? If so don't fuss it. If it's cracked goop it extra w/ 5200 when you put the plate on.

TDF, that's the plan exactly - an exterior plate with a healthy dose of 5200...

You may want to drill some small holes at the ends of the crack to keep it from spreading.
. Livewell is cool..

Thanks Kent - good tip! Yeah, I'm excited about that livewell.

What, these are available aftermarket? I thought you had to dig 1 out of a glass donor, fab 1 out of an extra un-needed fuel tank, or use a cooler?

Foam & Gluvit already? You have been watching the Jas-channel haven't you. Hauling arse my friend, hauling arse!

Gluvit is down as well as a some "coat it" on top of that. I actually like the coat it better. Not only is it 1/3 of the price, but it goes on dark and so its easier to see missed spots, etc.. On the foam, I have just "purchased" the boards - nothing installed yet...

Nice goodies..and progress...

Thanks, Troop! Travel safe today!

Excellent idea... will do! Thanks,

Good deal! Yeah, I liked yours so much that I have decided to put two of 'em in my boat! Yep, going to have one fore and aft... The one in the bow deck is going to double as a fish box. Stay tuned - I'm still thinking through it. Gotta get a gas tank first. My ebay bid fell through, but I've got a lead on another one.

Just curious, I've noticed that these old Johnson/Envinrudes were typically hooked up to a 6 gallon, non-pressurized exterior tank. The tank is even in my service manual. Surely, I can connect this to a large sub-deck tank, right? I'm thinking just have the right fittings on the tank and run a longer line with the primer bulb all the way to the back? If I am missing something, let me know before I drop 150 bones on a new gas tank.

Thanks,
-PMC

Yeah, I had the pleasure of a nice lunch with a fellow iboater today! Anybody recognize this guy in the Pink Floyd T-shirt standing in my garage next to my boat? Had fun visiting with you, my friend.

Also, picked up this gas tank today...its going to go way up front and then the bow-side fish box will cross it laterally (perpendicular) on the lower-level for max use of space...

18" wide, 34" long - 17" tall on the high side... 27 gallon... I think I can find 20 inches of vertical space way up there in the bow (at least I hope I can...

Well yah but....

You gotta think 20" top to bottom @ 18" of width??? Since you got that big V up there I'm pretty sure that puts you at gunwale height up there in the bow. That'll be a very high casting deck my friend.

Bah, dood, I'm just shooten from the hip here, without even looking at the thing sittin in yur boat!

Yep, it was too tall by about 4-5 inches. Okay: so we measure first, then buy. Got it. Check.

Guys going to cancel the sale and refund me, so that's good.

Pmc Great looking resto! I just bought a boat that is in pretty much the same condition as your exept for the transom. I am eagerly watching your progress on your boat! Have you figured out what your are going to do with the spash well length fore to aft? Thanks Tim.

Thanks Bird! Hopefully you'll start a thread so we can all see your boat. I am going to modify the splashwell to make it smaller. Check out the Jason's (the buy below) splashwell on his seanymph and that's fairly close to what I may end up with. Similar rear casting deck around it too... Yeah, I'm pretty much going to copy his build, but I've already warned him... :)

Well, as a matter of fact I do... See below: Little man helped me cut some foam. I am copying your method of stacking the sheets in there like mini-bulk-heads. I like it...It's going to add some structural "ummmph" - but its slow moving filling up about 10 feet 1 inch at a time.

9_15_12_startingfoam.jpg

Well, little man and I are off to the best college town in America (Oxford, MS) to watch Ole Miss take on Texas Longhorns tonight... We will probably get whipped pretty good, but hopefully it will be some good father - son time.

Later,
rpm
