i had intended on spraying the bottom this weekend, however the sanding is not moving as fast as needed to get to that point.

i woulda used a pressure washer sandblaster that worked out perfect for my bottom and made it just rough enough to hold new paint the cobra looks awesome , the woman next to it as well :0 and the boat well she will be a real looker when you are finished, i wish i had the means to do my dash way you did yours but I'am too cheap and have no friends who can engrave lol

think that was my reasoning on flipping hull and sand blasting , plus the OP had never removed any bottom paint just a new coat every year , lol should have seen how thick this paint was, i think i measured 3/16 in some areas and that pressure washer sandblaster took it off like nobody's bizness and i didn't have to worry about the dust poisoning me.

Well, I estimate about 3 hours more sanding, some hand-sanding of the corners/edges and i can spray. Will not be this coming weekend as the admiral and I need to fly up to WI for family/estate/etc.

We have to go up for my nephew's christening and sell dad's plow truck (1996 Dodge Cummins) for the estate. Tammy is going to be my youngest nephew's god mom.

score of the day. current helm and cable were a bit stiff most likely old grease as a liberal amount of brake cleaner helped loosen it up.

old Teleflex SSC12416 rack and cable

was dreaming of ways to warm the cable, and try to flush the old grease, etc.

thought, not really feasible

new is about $150

did a google search, found a place on internet in New Zealand that had two in stock for $26 with free world wide shipping.

big disclaimers, only fits the old style late 80's helms.....blah blah blah

Score - used paypal for level of protection

I cant afford not to replace the cable.

OK, so what I recieved in the mail was a Bravo foam transom seal.

the guy running the site is claiming its an error with website coding and will be refunding me my money because the parts are not available. even though its still on their site.

Im not going to hold my breath.

@#$%@#$@# scamming web sites.

Using the foam gasket would be like steering the boat by pushing rope.

Scott - You know you got it bad when you buy from overseas scammers. We have perfectly good scammers right here at home. Laughing a little, but feel for ya. SOBs!
