there are about 50 love bug parts in the gel... mostly wings and legs.... little flying bass-tards kept landing on the gel.

Bit of update from the weekend.

wetsanded both sides of the boat, need to go back over some areas.

started buffing, first pass with AquaBuff 1000. still need to do the 2nd and third pass, then move on to the final buff with finess it.

this highlighted much of the gloss, however also pointed out that I need to sand a bit more. need to start with something more aggressive than 600 grit in some areas to knock down the orange peel to get the mirror shine.

then took some time to spend Sunday with the Admiral and two of the fur-babies (one went back in his purse because he was too grumpy). Today being the anniversary, wont get back to the boat until later in the week.

every one of the bugs in the gel will need to be sanded out, filled back in prior to me buffing those areas.....dang bugs.

the love bugs are about a month early this year..... Normally hitting in mid April. Nothing that cant be cured with applications of elbow grease and cash.

spent some time pulling apart the front hatch. need to re-paint to properly match. I may do a write-up on this

eradicated most of the orange peel in the gel. I looked like a smurf

used a multi-tool and 60 grit to remove the love bug carcasses.... touched the areas up with a brush, made the repairs proud so I can sand down

here is a bit after buffing with the cutting compound. need to go back over with the finishing compound a bit.

While the gel touch-ups for the love-bug body removal was setting up, I decided to yank the tank.

its not a restoration until the tank comes out....LOL

when I did the stringers back in 2012, I measured the tank a few times to make sure I could get the tank out without too much struggle.

I should have measured a bit more. the fittings were a bear. ended up grinding a bit of the engine mounts to get the tank to clear. needed to oil-can the top to get the fittings past the cockpit floor support.

tank will be cleaned up and painted.

not bad for a 32 year old tank.

corrosion just starting under the butyl tape they had it sitting on. pitting is less than .005 and is coming out with 120 grit.
