cockpit drains used to simply run to the bilge. while it made it OK, it meant that a fair amount of leave debris would end up in the bilge. also during a few outings, we hit some torrential rains .

so since the cockpit drains are about 8" above the water line, I decided to use in-line scuppers and thru-hulls out the back

the transom was just a bit thicker than my thru-hulls, so I went on each side of the transom where the hull is "only" 1-1/4" thick. 1/2" core with an exterior thickness of 7-16" and an interior thickness of 5/16"

Spent the day going thru the wiring harness. The split loom is cracked, and the original electrical tape needs attention.

Rerouting some branches, so the bilge will be cleaner

a bit cold this weekend.... been in the 50's

had a fire yesterday evening...... that with the adult beverages....... and I was out early.....

IMG_0373_resized.jpg

and yes, thats a 50# bulldog-puggle on my head

spent the better part of yesterday and today chasing the factory wiring. a few circuits were tapped off....

1117191335_resized.jpg

managed to get the PS cooler plumbed and the raw water plumbed. this was a version of 3D tetris with hoses, a coil, an engine block and wiring.....

this is where the raw water hose has to go...

1117191338_resized.jpg
this is after re-routing the plug wires and running the raw water hose

1117191349_resized.jpg

this is with the coil in place

1117191508a_resized.jpg

routed the control cables..... needed to push and pull the shift cable thru the sleeve.

re-plumbed the oil filter and added the oil pressure switch for the buzzer....

1118191623_resized.jpg1118191634_resized.jpg

then realized I forgot the oil temp sending unit (will add that tonight)

it was dark by a bit after 5, so I started wiring the new dash

each terminal is crimped, soldered, and sealed with epoxy heat shrink

Bit of progress....

had the machinists turn up some plugs for the y-pipe.

1121191034_HDR_resized.jpg

designed up and had one of the welders work on the brackets that will tie the gunwales to the sole for the tower.

1121191920_resized.jpg1121191924_resized.jpg

Now to get the brackets painted today.

hard to work in the evenings when the sun starts going down on your drive home

spent the day painting my new brackets. had to go to West Marine to get more zinc primer....

so I could then spray the Snow White Imron (Axalta)

1123191540_resized.jpg

then I inquired if they matched pricing. as long as its brick-n-mortar stores within 50 miles. Hodges Marine had a great price on a Garmin Echomap Plus 74SV at $738

so West Marine matched because they are 42.5 miles away.

this followed me home

Todays Progress..........

transducers mounted, and wiring run

1124191350_resized.jpg

Radar/wakeboard arch brackets mocked in place. foam cleaned out of gunwales..... just needed a few extra hours today
1124190931_resized.jpg
there are spacers to go between the two pieces. Also need about 3" longer arms to reach the nuts on the backing plate. may have to wait until my step son Zach gets home this week.

Modified a carling switch to be momentary in one direction, and sustained in the other. could have special ordered and waited 4 weeks..... or could modify myself.
1124191513_resized.jpg
and yes, that is a bath of beer and apple juice that has long since rendered into gravy......

New development...... the depth gauge I bought and the transducer I bought together dont connect together. so have to wait a day or two for the correct parts to come.

the customer service gal: "we shipped these in April, you are first discovering it now?"
me: "yes, the restoration is taking a bit longer, and I just unwrapped the transducer and installed it"
the customer service gal: "lets find out what went wrong and take care of it"

other than that, been tidying up the wiring, adding a bigger power feed from the motor starting battery to the dash. I have two 100 amp solid state relays.

the ignition will power up the gauges directly, and the 4 relays at the motor, however any accessory load such as wiper, horn, lights, etc. will be powered by one of the solid state relays

the other solid state relay is for all house loads (stereo, amplifier, cabin lights, wash-down pump, power outlets, inverter for AC power (wife's hair straightener and blow drier))

Its the garmin x-ducer

Counter rotating props, not ideal, if I have a problem, may need to swap transducers right to left

Bit of update......

Had a wonderful Turkey day, my stepson Zach was able to help me get the brackets for the arch installed in the hull.

ate like kings..... then the Admiral wanted to go thru the paper to see if there were any sales that justified getting up early on Black friday

Harley quietly was buried by the ads
1128192055_resized.jpg

worried that critters would be digging in the garbage can because of the turkey carcass, I put a bungee on the lid

woke up to find that something (looks like racoon or opossum from the tracks) tried to get into the can

1129190933_resized.jpg1129190934_resized.jpg
Had planned on installing the arch Friday morning.... had to wait for the crew

there is an aluminum plate already embedded in the tops of the gunwales for bimini hardware. so I drilled thru the 1/4" of fiberglass, the 1/4" of aluminum, another 1/8" of fiberglass and the 3/8 aluminum on my brackets to prep for the guys showing up

1129191309_resized.jpg

since I converted the corsa exhaust cut-outs to the arch in three steps, I no longer needed the Y-pipe

so I plugged that off because there is no way to remove it once the motor is in the hull.

1129191512_resized.jpg
the original speaker grills from Pyle were turning yellow.... so a can of Krylon Fusion took care of that

1129191702_resized.jpg
Saturday will be wrapping up most of the wiring and installing the dash.

Will be taking a break to dig out the Christmas decorations

Thanks Micky.

spent last Saturday and Sunday decorating the house for the admiral.

Finally got back to wiring yesterday. Dash goes in today. if I am lucky, the fuel pump, and filter head will get installed too.

one step forward, 3 steps back

ran new speaker wires, ran the wires for the wash-down pump that will be added, ran spare wires for the future. power and ground to the aft, and 4 extra circuits to the bilge

1208191531b_resized.jpg

have most of the wiring sorted out. all the new circuits run to the dash.

1208191531_resized.jpg

however went to install the dash...... it wont go in wired. need to wire in-place. the extra switches fall behind the support for the steering, and the dash either needs to install horizontally with the gauges in place or vertically with the switches in place.

so...... pull a row of switches.....after pulling the wiring off.

1208191630_resized.jpg

only to find I need to clearance around the gauges a bit for things like the mounting brackets.

1208191658_resized.jpg1208191704_resized.jpg
needed to enlarge the hole for the ignition key. Old key switch was 3/4", new is 7/8" it is easier in the beginning with a laser to make a double-D hole, than after the fact with a rotary carbide. will need to pull the dash one more time do drill some holes, and to seal the balsa core now exposed.

while rummaging thru the garage, cam across touch-up paint for the old durango...... so i filled in the letters on the air cleaner.

1208191531c_resized.jpg

ran out of daylight Sunday night.
