not sure if they are mud daubers, or solitary bees (we have both) or some of the other crawly things..... we have them all. the yellow jackets that were building a nest under the transom just got hosed down with wasp and hornet killer along with their cousins building a few nests above the house front door.

the truck had a nest of carribean ants running around on the rocker panel, so I hosed that down with ant killer (borax)

while I was at it, I used the syringe to stab a few fire ant mounds and inject some AF into the hole while I sprinkled the tops with Amdro

also a fire and hill seamed to have appeared in the fire pit...... I just emptied a container of some home-made napalm (styrofoam melted in gasoline) into the fire pit, let it soak in for a minute and had a s#it-eating grin when I tossed the match.....

I may be missing some arm hair from the fire ball.

insects seriously have it out against humanity if I need napalm, borax and wasp and hornet spray to ward them off.

on another note, I highly recommend these https://www.ebay.com/itm/Marine-Grad...72.m2749.l2649

I bid $10 each for 6.... and got them for that price. will be modifying them slightly so they will have drain hose connections.

since i will not have snaps on the windshield screen or the gunwales anymore, the new cockpit cover will be secured to these and the rear cleats

bit of progress prior to family showing up.

cut access holes to the in-floor drain hoses of the cooler. should have done this in 2012

pried up the last of the old wood that was keeping the tank in place.

after 30 years, the wood is just brittle

going to replace with delrin strips after i clean up the cubby where the tank sits and roll some gel coat

here is the hull number written under the cockpit sole

Cruisers inc hull number 240058. since the 2420 was 1987 and 1988 only prior to becoming the 2500 in 1989, and only 33 were made as 1987s, that would put this hull about late winter/early spring of 1988. going to call Kevin at KCS International (Cruisers) and ask.

however the window trim and glazing from Taylor made had a september 1987 date on it.

While running back and forth between the boat and the garage, 4 large adult cranes decided to dine on the bugs in the front yard.

they are not afraid of people, which is why they dont move for traffic.

yes this guy got close enough to peck at me..... so I barked at him.

spent the better part of yesterday in the 1-1/2' high 2-1/2' wide 5" long hole where the fuel tank lives sanding away..... in 95% humidity

today, I finished off the final bit of 'glass work and did a light skim coat of some of the bilge areas until I ran out of filler

then when sanding...... it started to pour......

awaiting the rain to stop so i can finish and maybe roll the gel to finish the bilge

Have shoes on today as some glass and acetone got under my flip-flop strap and irritated the crap out of my foot

the dimples...... the glass wrinkles....etc. that were not covered by the skim coat.

plus, this way when something goes awry and there is a fluid spill, the stain will hide.

so Tuesday I had intended to install the transom shield

after moving a mountain of lawn equipment, boat parts, etc. I get to the shelf where the transom shield and parts are

get everything to the boat

Screenshot_2019-07-16-19-42-02_resized.png

and cant find the 6 galvanized transom shield retaining washers or the 6 nuts.

then my phone alerts me to the impending thunder storm.

pack everything up and head in as it starts raining

spent an hour in the garage looking for nuts...... I can tell you.....I am nuts....

........

fast forward to Wednesday, lasered out some retaining washers out of stainless, and picked up what I thought were the right 7/16" nuts from the hardware store....

everything on the transom shield is imperial threads with two exceptions...... the retaining screw threads for the cylinder hinge pins are M6 and the 6 transom shield studs are M12..... I did not buy M12..... i feel like NASA

spend a bit drilling out the lasered plates to get them to fit over the M12 studs only for the phone to indicate that a heavy thunder storm is coming thru with heavy wind,

Screenshot_2019-07-17-19-15-44_resized.png

so spent the evening with 3 dogs on my lap because they dont like thunder

also found 3 dead lizards and about 5 dead frogs.
