The last auto I rebuilt was a 700R4. The 4L60E and 4L80E need a pile of tools.... Plus its still under warranty for the next 2 months....talk about a silver lining

Had the first fiberglass guy swing by. This is the guy that gave me a price of $3500 to do everything.....he came back with $2k for the cockpit...wtf. After explaining to him what he quoted in the past, he came down to $1k

Going to look around some more

We been getting a few love bugs up here also .. Glad I’m not doing any painting ..
The dreaded horse flys are out now too . Those things will make you bleed !
I guess that glass guy forgot what he had already quoted you .. I don’t blame you for shopping around....

here is a bit of an update....

the Admiral and I got a rental Yukon XL courtesy of GM and spent May 11th thru the 20th driving to Wausaukee WI, cleaning out dads house (2 20 yard dumpters) repairing the siding on the side of the garage, tearing out carpet and getting the house listed on the market.

https://www.realtor.com/realestatea...y-180_Wausaukee_WI_54177_M97132-26951?view=qv

the clean out task was so daunting, I hired my nephew for a day and we busted up a bunch of furniture, etc. and filled one dumpster. the next day, I had a friend that lives about 45 minutes away joint to help. we moved the sleeper sofa and an entire check-out lane from my grandfathers hardware store.

physically and emotionally exhausting with every night ending about 10:30, then the hour and 45 minute drive to my mothers where we were staying in the guest room.

During that time I had a business visit to both Cruisers and Marquis/Carver

The Weekend prior to coming back was a birthday bash for a good friend of mine who turned 60..... yes we are all part of the grey haired movement.

nephew of my bud had a pile of VP 290 drive parts. complete transom shield assembly, mid section, both a SP and a DP lower and the blown up upper trans. this is left over from when a tooth broke off in the trans and grenaded his trans while under WOT

the DP lower is complete, however disassembled.

good score on spare parts

this past memorial day weekend spent most of Saturday sanding the bugs out of the dash. from there, scuffed up the entire cap again

Sunday was the dash spray, followed by Monday the cap and gunwales

0526191708_resized.jpg0526191708a_resized.jpg0527191028_resized.jpg No bugs, however the temp had the gel kicking in the gun on the cap spray.

a few chunks of kicking gel started spraying out of the cup, so I have some boogers to sand out as well as a large bird dropping that I had to wipe off wet and hose the area down with gel.....

Bit more progress.

Have the forward hatch restored. had the painter at work spray it in a metalic silver imron

then I used left over black window urethane (from a vehicle repair) and glued in the polycarbonate back in

Then I started working on the vent grills

A bit more progress this weekend.

pulled apart the wing windows to paint the hinge extrusion. going black here, with the rest of the frame white. this is to hide the extrusion with the tinted windows

went thru almost 200 feet of pin striping outlining all the stripes.

installed some deck hardware

installed the rub rail

installed the swim ladder

spent hours looking for hardware. went to hardware store 3 times, and spent over $60 on hardware I know I have in bags that is labeled.

Looks really nice. Do you have a target date for launching?

My original target was earlier this year. Right now trying to get it to the point to initially splash prior to end of June (which is aggressive). Interior may need to wait until after the splash

tonight will be re-glazing the windscreen and getting that ready to install (maybe tonight, if not Tuesday).

Still need to spray the cockpit sole and the bilge, looking at this coming weekend
