hey kc, just replacing the section I cut out from the factory pressurized H/C potable water system, its already run from the pressure pump, to the shower, bath sink, galley sink, and hot water heater. Its pitched and drains in the engine room for winterization. Its held up without cracking for 25+ years ;).
Welcome aboard.

That's cool. I think if I were re-doing it all {which insn't your situation} I would use pex. The best though is that you have the back pitch to drain er out. Thank you for permission to come aboard! Progress is looking NICE!

Yea, Pex would have been good, especially since I have a bunch of pieces left over from the house, but its difficult to keep pitched, tends to sag over longer runs.

And you're quite welcome ;)

Hey gang, well, no updates on the boat glass right now, ive been busy again working on the house, getting the framing, decks, and portico ready for the siding guys. We just finished the gel coated sundecks, and we're finishing up the trex. I got to spend a week or two on the versatex white boards, then I get a break again while the siding crew, hvac, plumbing, and electric gets finished. Passed the framing inspection, just waiting on the rough electric this wed. The gel coat on the decks came out nice, ill post some pics in a bit.

So par for the course, the cover I had on the boat got shredded this weekend when some crazy storms blew thru....so the old gal is bare naked again :(.

So im gonna have to move the shelter redo from the fall to now, a new, redesigned bubble, using all wood construction, pole barn style with purlins and a rigid plastic roof on 6/12 rafters. I have a bunch of Simpson hurricane clips and straps left over, plus a lot of old dimensional lumber from a collapsed barn out in the back of the property, so ill incorporate those to beat this years storms lol. My helper is in this location 1 day a week now, til im ready to head down south with him for 3 other days, thats how weve been doing the house. The plan is to have him frame the shelter, while I continue to do the glass work, to get this thing moving along.

sounds like we are in the same boat so to speak on progress, lol! Looking forward to seeing the new bubble. I would like to see the deck by the way, I have a fiber glassed one (sort of) at the lake. I'm curious what you did.

Im working out plans for the new bubble as we speak, arch lol...doing a little thinking drinking ;)

I framed the sundecks with double tapered joists (1/4" per foot for runoff)..covered with 5/8 ply, then a layer of 1/2 coated with resin. Then a 5/4 x 2" nailer around the edge, then 4" composite board, rounded over the 5/4 to slide the white board trim under. It was glasses with 2oz csm, then gel coated with a textured roller and grit.

You know, some of us have some extra boat epoxy around the house to fix kid's toys...this is a whole new level of cool repurposing. What a great view too!

Yea man, im doing my best to repurpose back and forth, the leftover framing wood will also come home to go on the new shelter.....glass decks are great for keeping rain from running thru deck boards to lower decks, and the gel is cool on the feet in the sun. Its built just like a boat deck done everyday here ;)

Thanks Sam,
Its a novelty to me for now, I could barely see any water from the old bungalow. Me, The Admiral, and the 2 pups actually camped out Saturday night, we sat on that deck til 2am, polishing off a bottle of wine, watching the ocean fade to black....then the occasional red or green nav light from night cruisers....since its always rented, we figured we would take advantage of a summer night while we can.

Nothing like the sound of the water on a nice evening, wine, woman and just nice! Deck looks good! A little rocket launcher and I bet you could get some bait out there!

looks like you just rolled it up the wall, then counter flashed it with your siding? Looks like it turned out nice. Mine was done in the summer....so things had a tendency to go from fluid in a very short period of time....so it wasn't exatly pretty, but hasn't ever leaked. I ended up putting some outdoor carpet over it to sort of dress it up. I actually like the carpet, works like a giant walk-off mat to keep sand out of the house.

Just be sure to keep the bushes around yer deck trimmed, it makes yer deck look BIGGER.

That's what its all about kc, and sitting out in the cockpit overnight is majical, that's partially what keeps the project going!...

I'm assuming you rolled on the gelcoat?

Yep, with a textured roller. We cut 45 deg triangle strips from some 2x and tacked where the deck meets the wall, then PB was spread smooth, like a bulkhead. Then the mat was rolled up the wall 8". The doors were removed and the sill was glassed underneath, then a lip at the inner sil to keep water out. We get crazy Noreasters here, with driving rain off the ocean. Even without siding, no water is coming in. The poly smell from sanding the wax for gel was a treat to the beachgoers tho lol.

They have tight lot coverage allowances here, so the upper decks are usually over living area, so glass is the way to go. This one is partially over a bedroom ceiling.

I had indoor outdoor cpt in the porch of the old house, and a water bin as a foot rinse, the rinse took off the sand, and the carpet dried the feet ;)
