The glass work turned out nice Zool!

Thanks Troop, I know in the scope of the build, we're deep in the weeds here, but this was one of two glass repairs that I wasnt quite sure how to approach, and wasnt sure of the outcome..the other is the pulpit....so its a small milestone for me ;)

I am digging that spray booth; it should turn out nice.

Back in my crazier days, I re-painted my 1981 Honda Prelude. . . I had to make a make-shift spray booth out of my garage

Your spray booth is going to be the real deal :thumb:

Thanks guys, ive been doing the plastic curtain thing for years too, but I still always get overspray, and end up huffing some fumes..now im getting older, and have plenty of space, so its time.

Went out back today and the fairing compound is still a bit tacky...so ill let that fully cure for a few days, then finish it up. The other hatches just need to be defoamed and prepped for paint...ill just finish those up in between tasks, but it would be redundant to post all that here. It may seem like im just randomly jumping around, but there is some method to the madness, most everything im working on now will be painted seperate from the boat, and together, hopefully in the booth. Ill paint the Evolution on the hatches, including the non skid when i do the engine compartment and cockpit. Then I can install the hatches papered over, and use them as standing points to do the rest of the non skid to the cockpit and decks.

I went in the boat and took off the cabin entry doors. Nothing screams 80's boat more than a teak bifold door, so the plan is/was to reglue the door joinery, then lay a layer of 8 oz cloth over all the wood, then fair it straight and paint to match the boat. The obvious other option is to glue it back together, clean and oil. I think I could bring it back with some effort.

This is the joinery used.

Outside temp = 41 deg F
Bubble temp = 64 deg F
RH = 68+-
Sunny

While I think about how to do the doors, I may try to get a few lams done in the boat, take advantage of this weather window.

Grass is still green in there, but never had to cut it ;)

No matter how I try to convince myself to just oil it and be done, I just cant seem to get past that lol....Im leaning towards encapsulating the doors...

Those are cool ! But I guess it would have to be a stand up bar or ride side saddle on the stool . :D
I like the C/C one in the middle .

I saw one of those at the boat show yesterday made out of the bow of a 50's fiberglass boat.....I may need one of those for the barn :D

Sam: I like the CC too, that one is actually a real transom, cut from a boat and refinished....it would have the most knee room, but the bowed top may not be too bottle friendly :)

Arch: I can invision one in your new barn no problem...:D

By the way, that joinery is called a Loose Mortise and Tenon Joint. Predecessor of the Modern Biscuit Joinery. Lots of people still use it. Made with a Router Jig.

Hmm, so whats the "loose" part mean, Mike...is that like not glued, or just the fit....Im gonna need to glue it, to get some integrity back in it, whichever way i go....for a fairly simple design, it held up well for the better part of 25 years ...

Nope, it means that the groove is cut in both pieces and then the "Tenon" piece is cut separately and then "Loosely" fitted and glued into place as opposed to cutting a tenon on one piece and fitting it into a mortise on the other piece as in Mortise and Tenon joinery.

th

It's also called Spline Joinery as well.
