For the top side, I broke out the da and some p100 gold paper after cleaning it with ms6383 a few times.

I used light paper because I dont want to remove alot of the gel, just the textured surface which appears to be a gell layer with brush swirl marks in it.

It was gummy but it eventually all came nice and smooth...

I cleaned the edges and started prepping the cutouts with 2" rolocs in 80 and 100..

and there it is all cleaned up

What I plan to do is place packing tape over a section of the existing gutter to form the radius with a few layers of 17oz cloth

Then pop that off and bridge it over the cutout areas.

Ill clamp that one somehow and flip it over to make the lams from the underside. Using the mold as a backer.

Ill dish this out all the way around and tab it a few inches, then fair the gutter side to match the pitch.

Was that 2 part foam you took off with the goof off? Worked real good if it was. Good idea on making the form, curios to see how it comes out.

Either you spend too much time in the shop or don't travel in/out as much as I do...I have a 2 foot wide path heading out to mine now...

Nah, it was just some kind of sound deadening foam with a ton of glue.

That shop building is the farthest from the house, and I usually take what i need with me hehe....plus I like to work in old sneakers, instead of clumsy boots...but they take on water/snow..so i step in the footprints :)

Looks like the weather is turning favorable towards the end of the week. I should be ok to laminate the gutters on the engine hatch Saturday. In the mean time, ive been working on the barn adjacent to the Imperial, its a big project, but I may pull out one piece of it for this forum. Its a dedicated Spray Bay, 12 x 26 x 10'. I finished a storeroom next to the booth, and just finished the rough electric for 19 flush mount acrylic lensed troffer fixtures with 2 or 3 t8's each. Im working on some of the finish framing this week. When finished, it will have a 3000 cfm fan pulling thru a grid of paint eliminator filters in a cross breeze pattern, it will have refrigerated dry air supply, fire supression sprinklers, a separate mixing station, storage area, and heat.

Ill post some pics of the progress along side the boat progress for anyone interested in one.

Thats the perks of being a non farmer on an old cattle farm....plenty of old space just waiting to be reused ...but youre alway welcome to drag a rig in here and go to town..:D

This is the space, did the siding and paint last summer, now im on to the inside.

its the left hand bay.

This is the storeroom on the left side of the bay, in primer, but mostly done.

This is the space we will use. Its an Amish built peg and beam building. Some of the walls were angled, dont know why, but im about to fram the right wall on a block sill.

The walls will have verticle light fixtures, 4 per side, and angled top corner lights horizontal, 4 per side...and 3 bigger fixtures in the ceiling.

Well that all looks like a great boat & anything else ya want to rehab space

I really like the odd length, width & randomly painted recycled lumber look on the inside of a barn. :watermelon:

I'd love to have (but not mow) an old farm w/ some space & an out building or 2.

Congrats, going to be a nice spray booth.

Thanks JB, some of that random boarding is my doing :)...it was originally drive thru bays, but i repurposed some of the boards to close up the one side. Im right there with you on the old fashioned look. Obviously, because of this purpose, the clean and anticeptic look is mandatory in this section, but the rest of the building will be somewhate period specific. Weathered gray rough sawn look with muddy red and green accents. The other side bay area is larger and will just be restored for display of the project de jour..plus theres a full size loft I havnt decided what to do with yet.

yea, theres a full day of mowing here, mostly because I cleared a bunch when I got here...I have a total of 33 ac, but I maintain like 3.

I've mowed 2+/- acres before w/ a beat up old 1945 Ford tractor w/ a large pull behind mower deck via PTO. Didn't like it when I HAD to mow it, but now, LOVE that my dad & I mowed the church property together for years.

Now I look at forlorn, abandoned tractors every time I see one in a field/barn somewhere & think back to being on that cantankerous old Ford :)

If I'm ever fortunate to own more then an acre, it will only ever have 1-1.5 acres mowed

FWIW - I bought my first powerboat, the Formula 242, In Northfield, NJ and managed to escape without a scratch. :D Also looked at a few 280's a couple years back in Toms River and places thereabouts. I did leave all the Red Sox and Patriots gear at home though and tried to talk without too much of a Boston accent . . . definitely a baseball thing, maybe football too. :D

The Pats seem to get a pass since Parcells went there...not so much for the Sox! :D.....
