Now that is a Hoop house!

Nice looking shelter Zool...maybe zip tie some lines on the ends and in the middle? kinda like staking a tent?

Thanks troop, thats a good idea too, if the ends hold, everything else should too!..im thinking of adding guide wires from the gable ends to the ground, so it doesnt become a waather baloon hehe.....the wind blows something fierce from the field..

OK, that makes sense...no glue...
Instead of packing tape, what I have done is rough up the pipe with some sandpaper before inserting it into the fittings, just a couple of passes with some 40 or 80 grit to raise the fibers...really adds some bite...
Another thought on wind and such...
Any worries about a snow load?

I already had to sand each end to fit in the cross fittings, they were too tight....clamped a belt sander to the table and ground each end, some are too loose now tho...im planning on using a 12mil hay tarp i found at tractor Supply that has brass rings and roped ends, and pulling it all tight down to the knee walls, and over the gable ends, then sheathing on both ends clamping the tarp snug...back yard engineering for sure lol....

Looks kool Zool! :D Its interesting how we all have different weather to contend with. In OK that would make an excellent soccer ball for the wind! But we don't have to worry too much about snow, every so often we get a 1' or so, usually much less. The ice is a different story, that can get nasty. Hopefully that keeps you dry and warm for the winter! Looking forward to more work on the boat, and thanks for sharing the construction of the shelter. By the way, would you get any heat value from using a clear green house plastic for the roof? might be cost prohibitive, but you might get some nice solar heat gain :D

You could drill throught the joint from the topside all the way through then drop a nail through the hole to act as a pin to hold it in place. Easy enuf to pull em all out when tear down time comes along.;)

Ok guys, I want to thnk all of you for solid suggestions, I really appreciate having all of you here, to bounce ideas off of, and with all i have to do to get to the end of this, ill be leaning on all of you for years to come! Alot of what I have coming up is a bit over my head, experience wise.

So I have a path forward, im thinking of going back to my origional clear plastic plan, as Arch stated, the greenhouse effect will be lost with the solid tarp. I was worried about the summer heat, but some nursury shade cloth added in the summer, along with a louvered fan above the door should keep temps down a bit in the summer, while getting free heat all winter.

To hold everything together, i decided to add 3 rows of firing strip purlins, one along the top center, and two between each pvc cross brace and the knee walls. This way I can use the husky 6mil plastic from HD, in 3 20' wide layers (thats how the rolls come). The purlins will be screwed c clamps atached to each pvc pipe, not allowing any lateral movement.

Free lighting and heat is hard to pass on, if needed, i can double up the plastic to make 12 mil.

Because i had the wood and windows on hand, cost isnt too bad, a few hundred for pvc and hardware, another 2 for plastic, and that should be good for the winter.

You guys are the best, thanks!

Ill post more pics as I progress.

I definately plan on reeusing it Troop, but not in this spot, its kinda in the way, and i do alot of spraying in the adjacent building.....theres a spot further back that has a water feed out of the ground already, and a sub panel on a pole.....I used a minimal amount of fasteners, so moving it wont be too bad.....

In hindsight, i would have had them place the boat in a better spot, but i wasnt planning on redoing it when i had it brought here..

I wrestled the firewall out to the boat for a test fit,and to measure for the other structures.

it needed a little trim, but fit good overall

also got the ist coat of epoxy paint in the tank area.

Layed most everything out, starting to look like it once did..

The shelves originally just has a leg board tabbed to the hull, but im replacing that support with an additional stringer runing from the firewall to the transom.

GW, yeah, tried to take advantage of the weather and get some of the mocking up done.....too bad it all had to come back out for wetting/glass coating.

Arch, the firewall was not nearly as bad as the transom, weight wise, but still awkward to deal with.

The idiot move of the day was dropping one of the sending unit screws into the tank...i flipped it and tilted it around like one of those marble/puzzle games, but no luck so far....maybe aluminum screws are magnetic? I gotta get one of those magnet pickup things..

I did get some more of the substructure glueing done tho..

I ended up using garage floor epoxy paint for the tank area, worked out fine..
