Re: 1983 26' Starcraft Sportfisherman 261V Rebuild

Personally I love the glasser, tiny banter and Jas is a Pro!!!

Hey, we all have "special" skills sbb. Smack talk may just be one of mine:joyous:

Well, now you can sell or use the trailer that it was on. Right?

Yah, you bet. It will be sold or - I might push the axle forward and weld it up into a utility trailer.

K, this morning I woke up to just a bit of snow stuck to the ground. The 5.7 got one last run in and drained, oil, filter, fuel filter, and fogged. When I took the flame arrester off to fog here was the view...

Yah, that may need some attention when I bring her out of hibernation.

Boy, it's tough to figure when that will actually happen really. It's kinda hard for me to see out into the future when that V8 will get lifted into this 261, hmmmmmmm. :noidea:

Dunno???!!!

Anyhow, have a great weekend guys:D

Am I on an episode of Punk'd?? 'Cause that ^^^ right THERE ^^^ THAT ^^^ sounds just a tad more 'off' then the normal 'tad off-ness' round this joint.

Have fun making snow angels w/ the kids...........

That looks like an exhaust leak over a long period. That will surely choke off the performance!!:joyous:

Hey Jason, is that from the crank case vent? Or just years of mung?

JB - Yah, I can't really get my head wrapped around the actual rebuild timeline on this boat. But that's fine, no rush, no prob. Now if I just had a "Starcraft Hanger" things might be just a little different:D

Glen/sbb - Dunno what happened there but it's a thick nasty mess. This whole engine will get a good clean, tune, paint in due time.

Ok, this project seems to have had a whole lot of updates since I brought her home just about a month ago, kinda surprised bout that.

From here on things should slow way down. Over the course of the winter I'd still like to kinda just pick away at pulling the rest of the gear n' stuff out. I fear the totally saturated foam is turning to giant blocks of ice/foam as I type this, so, digging that out might need to wait till it turns warm again. I should still be able to get the deck out over the winter though.

Anyhow, we are headed to my most favorite holiday of the entire year, love it!!:hungry:

Have a great week fellas:joyous:

Re: 1983 26' Starcraft Sportfisherman 261V Rebuild

I actually expected a follow up post w/ the V8 winterized, on a pallet of sorts & sitting IN the biggin' temporarily since there's limited space around it w/ the islander IN the garage.

Perhaps a w/ a Sha-Zam ~ BAM or 2 for effect..............:watermelon:

Hence the 'tad' 'off' comment & punk'd reference.....

Nice score for Lake Huron, you traded the completely finished SN for this tub? Uhmmm er good job buddy. I see you killed another glasser and made a few more friends. Good luck, the 5.7 is a rockin' motor. They get no better than that.

Ha, yah, nothing stewing here guys, sorry. This project is coming to a nice rolling station wagon type stop here, knowwhattamean. I did unbolt he battery selector switch this morning, but ya, that's bout it eh.

Yah, I've been thinking on that engine, I do elieve I'll leave well enough alone for now. Maybe someday, when she gets tired, I could go for it then. This engine only has 500 hours on it.

And yah, pole barn, I'd need $$ for that. I have been considering cutting out all my own timbers from red pine right here on the property. That would save a small pile of cheddar.

Yah, like I said earlier on in the thread, I certainly got the short end of this deal value wise. But, I'm amped, as you know, these are rare birds!

It was an easy decision to make the trade but a tough pill to swallow. Ya know.

It's all good, I do love this big girl:love:

Saw a little boat porn for the Starmada on our little boat picking up excursion....I like the larger helm windows?

It was in Rockwood, TN with Nevada registration all over it...it was getting new Mercruiser power...

not like you would have been using the nympho this winter anyway. and parting out the deck batteries of 8 inch guns on the new one has to have helped fill the coffers.

me, i a cynic. protestations notwithstanding, i bet J has the motor into this one by Valentines Day as a present for his boss. :surprise:

OK, on the Islander thread I mentioned that I have been working on another "Starcraft Project" (of sorts). Well, here it is!

Starcraft Ice Rink

P1110694.jpg

I figured I'd call it that as the 261 is kinda leaning out likes it wants to jump on an skate around some:joyous:

I know, kinda lame but my die hard, northern winter, hockey type tinhead brethren might appreciate it.

Our winters around here seem heckava long so that ^^^^^ should be a ton of fun for kiddos and dads alike!

Real nice Jason, I guess the name is because you got the StarCraft guarding the ice.

Does your new tractor have a Zamboni attachment for grooming the ice?

Real nice work. I see a DOTY* or HOTY award hanging around your place in the new year. They should completely LOVE using it until mid-april

The lights will elicit an ooohhh & an aaahhh or 2 out the Admiral down this way when she sees the rink.

meh. he just doesn't want to risk having to build a stairway up to the 261 and spend the winter there. :D

(nice work! all carp aside, that really is a nice thing to do for your kids)
