Once it was all prepped he still wanted to continue so we mixed up the resin and had at it.

I made him go run errands for about an hour then he was right back at it and wanting to keep on moving..... so much for a lazy saturday  So I put him to work grindin the scraps off the deck.

yup, y'all thought I forgot the pic didn't ya, lol

here we are together after the deck was all prepped for install.

I made him go home after that pic, I had a banquet to attend and quite frankly I was pooped trying to keep him busy all day, lol

Today we went to the early church service and while everyone was packing for our overnight to the water park I snuck out and managed to get the deck all glued and screwed down!

wow, what a milestone this weekend! We have a deck again! and it feels rock solid! yes I admit I danced a bit of a jig on it,

Tomorrow when we return from our overnight I hope to have time to pb it in and tab it in after the pb kicks. If we get home early enough I might even push it and try to get a layer of csm on the outside of the deck.

Hope all had a good and productive weekend and a fantastic Easter Sunday.

Enjoy the down time at the waterpark. Probably the 1st one to get the whistle for running on deck & rough housing in the pool too I bet

Wood, I agree but with the low hanging cap it might get a bit hairy up there right now, lol... I'll do that as soon as we splash her. I also have a special surprise planned for the admiral for the back fishing deck that I think you'll like. Hey, it might even revolutionize the bass boat industry  but y'all are going to have to wait until I do the interior to find out what it is.

Thanks SP! we did have a great weekend! Get down there to Blizzard Beach and embarrass your family as much as possible. it's what I do

Re: 1982 Sylvan Bassboat project

so, today after we got back from the water park I was less than motivated to say the least, lol I did get out there tonight and spend a little time on her though. First I went around and topped off all the screws with a little bit more 5200.

Then I went around and filleted the edges and filled the seams between boards.

Then I did a little fill around the bilge to fix some of the dad sawing

Thanks Gus! yeah, it may look like I got motivated but it was only about half of what I wanted to get done yesterday  to me that wasn't motivated.... and you are correct, I am ready to have this ol tub finished up and just enjoy it  Still a long way off before that happens though

+1 , looking real good

Thanks Bomber!

Ok, no fun pics tonight, just followed the Trooper method of do something anything everyday. Went out and worked on cleaning up roller & bunk brackets for the trailer. prepping to get them painted soon...

Deck looks great. I had to laugh at your comments about your dad's skills as mine is similar. My dad did teach me an awful lot growing up and we did a lot of DIY projects so I owe my willingness to attempt projects to him. But like yours, he is SO NOT mechanical at ALL and you gotta keep an eye on him. Recently he helped me with a laminate floor and I had to keep going back and undoing rows that he didn't click together the whole way  Most of the time he's a big help but there are definitely times when you just want him to go home :p

thanks EZ! Yeah, it certainly is a love / hate time when they're helping, I love having him around but sometimes ya just wanna get things done right the first time. It's just good to still have this problem, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Re: 1982 Sylvan Bassboat project

Busy weekend! busy life and I'm lacking an update so I'll make it quick cuz I'm watching Michigan in the finals tonight.

Friday night, too tired after a long day at work to start tabbing in the deck, so I decided to just work on cleaning up trailer parts and prepping them for paint.

Saturday, I got a early start and ground down all the rough PB and sanded down the entire deck, cleaned and prepped for some glass. Then I tabbed in the deck and put a layer of 1708 on all the seams, followed by a wet on wet layer of CSM on the entire deck! I was gassed after all that. So, while I waited for that to kick I went out back and worked on cleaning out some more of the donor boat. Almost all of the ice was finally melted out of the engine compartment. I also managed to get down to the gas tank and found I have a 27 gal, aluminum tank to get out and put up on CL. I also think I've come up with a plan for selling the outdrive, tilt and trim pump as a unit. I'll just cut the entire transom out leaving it all attached and whoever buys it can disassemble it as they see fit. Any thoughts on what I should start the asking price at for all this?

oh, here's the newly fiberglassed deck

I was done after all that for the day Saturday.

Sunday Morning I again got right on it and went out to clean out the bow for the front stringers. pre fit them and trimmed them to be level, etc..

Re: 1982 Sylvan Bassboat project

Once that was all set to cure I spent the next couple of hours finishing up the grinding on the trailer pieces parts, hung them from a makeshift paint rack and got a couple of coats of primer on them.

all in all, I spent over 10 hours working on it yesterday... and I was wooped!

tonight I got a couple of coats of the final coat on em;

I have officially run out resin, 1708 and MEKP.... I'll be putting in a new order at the end of this week.. In the mean time It's time to test fit the cap and finish putting the trailer back together..... until more supplies arrive.

I hope this week goes fast for everyone..

Boat work all looks good, Michigan too :)

Though, I think, perhaps 1 shall end better then the other.

My money is on you & the Sylvan, but it shan't end well for Michigan I don't think :watermelon:
