WOW, absolutely just WOW!!!
I'm speechless...that looks absolutely, incredibly AWESOME!!!!
Super fantastic job, Brutha Craig!
That is a Grand Slam!

aww, thanks Gus! just trying to keep up with the Gusmaster.

What he ^^^ said...

Thanks jbc!

Well worth the wait on the picks CW ! This was a great and well executed plan . Are you going to leave the middle section open ?
Nice job !

Thanks SP! Hey, Congrats :triumphant::grouphug::welcome: you had the 600th post on my thread! I never thought it would get this far

I'm leaving a 6" channel on each side of the center stringer for drainage. It was there in the original, just bigger and less uniform than what I have done.

That turned out great CW!

Awesome job!!!

Thanks Troop!

Re: 1982 Sylvan Bassboat project

Thanks EZ & Decker!

tonight I went out and sanded off the fill hole nubs and shaved down a small area near the stern that over filled a bit. Cleaned up everything and wished my order from USC would get here.

I then spent a little time taking apart some of the saved console from the Four Winns and cleaning the steering cable from the Four Winns. Hoping to start putting some of these scavenged parts up on CraigsList soon to start fertilziing the ol boat fund $$ tree.

Re: 1982 Sylvan Bassboat project

Thanks Decker! I was just catching up on your project this evening a bit while waiting for some PB to kick. I will be picking your and Troops brains when I get to gel coating the deck and cap!

Ok, yesterday my first of 2 orders for the week arrived with my cabosil & chopped strand. finally I could make some PB and fillet in last under main deck board. I mixed the PB a little hot and I was able to have enough time after it kicked tonight tonight to do a wet on wet layup of the tabbing.

Tomorrow the rest of the 2 part foam arrives and tomorrow evening I'll be getting the rest of the under deck foam finished up. I also hope to get the deck cut out and backside csm on.

Saturday I have some help coming. My father was getting curious about the process and asked if he could come give me a hand. I'm pushing hard so he can help me tab in the deck and be a part of a very major milestone.

Happy Friday all, May we all have a productive weekend!

Thanks Decker! I can't wait to show dad how it's done. I got all my wood working and mechanical knowledge/skills from an Uncle my dad's just never had an interest. It's kind of like a childhood dream in reverse,

Looks like a NICE job of "Over the Top" on those stringers!!!!

Thanks Wood! I like to think you taught me well and now it's starting to become second nature. I sure do know it's like second nature at this point after all the practice I've had  I still refer to your "how to's" for stringer bedding and most recently deck laying. (can't wait to use that one!)

Awesome work...Your foam technique was well planned and executed to perfection...

Keep up the good work!

Thanks PMC! I hope others can use my foam technique to their benefit in the future!

That is a promise SP! I hope to get the Admiral to take a pic of us both getting our hands dirty for the boat photo album.

Good job there CW!

Thanks Troop!

EZ & Wood, I am honored to have 2 guys I respect so much say that. I just try to take the lessons others teach and make them real. If I help anyone else with my pics along the way then that is gravy! This place, iboats, has become so much more than just a place to get info. I have made some great friends who give so much to all on here and make them selves available. If anyone doesn't think good exists in this world, they need go no further than this site to see just how much there really is. I've never met a bigger bunch of givers anywhere and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Re: 1982 Sylvan Bassboat project

Ok, I currently sitting at an indoor water park / hotel with the family and yes, I was the first one yelled at on the water slide, seems they don't like adults showing the kids how to have a good time

I have a few minutes for a quick weekend update.

Friday evening I managed to get the foam finished up and everything prepped for dad's assistance on Saturday. I didn't get as far as I wanted but I did manage to get prepped to the point of needing to cut the full sheets of ply for the deck.

Yeah, I'm pretty darn pleased with the end result! I only had to go back and top off one small area in the 1st pour. I think it's a pretty darn solid base at this point.

So Saturday rolls around and dad shows up around 9:30am. Can I just say he's not mechanical at all? Well, we spent the next couple of hours cutting the full sheets of ply down to size then going through the iterations of fitting and trimming until the 2 halves matched up good enough. We also managed to cut the last few pieces to go around the bilge. I have to say encouraging him to use the tools and cut was about as nerve wracking as working with one of my kids  but we made it.

here is the deck pieces ready to glass.
