Yeah, thanks bob! not gonna post anymore pics to my boat thread, I am a master of derailing my own boat project, but I love sharing the things I do, if ya all are interested in seeing how it comes out, I have a cub scout album in my photobucket!

Take all the time you need on that scout project Judge! I haven't touched my boat since Thanksgiving (it's been raining, had to put up Christmas lights, had to cut up 4 fallen trees and burn 3 large brush piles. UGH!) and I can't have you get TOO far ahead of me. ;)

I know what you're going through with all that scouting work, and it's worth it!!! It looks good! I'll be taking over the Cubmaster position sometime in the second quarter of 2012 so I have plenty of hours going towards scouting myself. My dad put in plenty of hours for me and my brothers and I hit Eagle at age 14 (and 15 years later he is still Scoutmaster) so I figured I owe the same thing to my own son.

Still waiting to find out if they will approve me for a den leader spot....did all the training, but getting approval for leadreship by a charter organization that is a church, for an Atheist...is a pain...I do this as a volunteer parent for now

Oh NOOOOOooooo! You misspelled the 6-3-9   ...just kiddng JDA:D, Great job on the banner!

Now just one more banner and FOUR more Flags...what do you think, by later this evening should have them all done...

If the council won't approve you after that effort, I don't know what's wrong with them...have a great parade.

JDA, I love seeing parents getting their kids into scouting. It's made me a lot of friends that have kept me sane through life. I think it's important to expose your kids to these things, if only to give them the knowledge that they can actually do things themselves.

Parade is done..so now maybe I can get back to work on the boat...was a lot of work for 20 minute parade but the kids had so much fun, it made it all worth it! Next year I will hopefully have more notice and get to do something a lil better

Frosty was the parade theme, so we did Frosty the snow scout...there must have been some magic in that old scout hat they found..

my wife was in charge of the camera and it wasn't until I got home that I realized she took no pictures of my banners on the float, oh well, here it is in the parade, I was driving my truck pulling this

I'm disappointed!!!! You should have thrown some plywood on your trailer and pulled it in the parade. It would have been the Classiest one there!!!!!!:D

Recuperated from overdoing it on the float, and got to work some today...Removed the livewell...it was tricky to remove in one piece so had to cut one side off, I have no idea how the fiberglassed it in with a 1" area to work in...it will still work as a template.

IMG_3723.jpg

IMG_3724.jpg

Then got the tank area/center console (armrest/cupholders and thinking of doing a small lid area where i can put my keys and wallet/paperwork in) cut out...some picture I flipped so you can see how it will look right side up. I am committed to my plan now, and think it will work out well, even with the increased weight

IMG_3715.jpg

the tank barely encroaches on the bilge/storage so that will give me more room for other stuff

IMG_3719.jpg

its not level only have one side held up but it gives you a good idea how high it will sit in the seating area...after seat cushions and top cushions, it will be a perfect height for arm rest and cup holders

IMG_3722.jpg

Have a friend that is a welder, and he said he can turn my fill hose tube toward the back for me...so if i build the lil console 3" taller than the tank sits now, it will have plenty of clearance

IMG_3725.jpg

I have played a lot with the numbers, and think with it sitting center and forward of the old tanks location, it will still plane out even with the increased weight...I hope I am thinking right...we shall see!

Yeah I know I am the king of derailing my own thread...but on a whim I did this tonight with my sewing machine..and thought ya all would get a kick out of my obsessive behavior...Finished my big banners, and used that plastic type fabric paint...that does not like to be folded for long lest it get ruined....how do I protect it, when it is in storage 360 days of the year....

took some strapping and sewed it together to create a harness...sewed in a few yard stick pieces to give it a rigid back so it couldn't fold my banners, also added a 1/4" dowel and sewed the hand closed so when it gets picked up the straps don't try to migrate to the middle

IMG_3729.jpg

then put the banners properly folded so no part of the paint had a fold into some cardboard....

IMG_3728.jpg

secured it with my harness..and viola...protected banners....had a little bit of strap left over so added some loops to slide the 5 walking banners into as well..now we can carry all 7 banners at once without fear of bending the big ones

IMG_3727.jpg

so there I go derailing my own thread...scroll up to see what I did to the boat today as well lol

Thanks...I am looking forward to some upholstery work myself...something I haven't done before, so should be fun....What did you think of the mods i have planned for my cap to accommodate the larger fuel tank...not that I am not already committed, but still value your opinion. Buying the supplies to rewire the cap (wife's christmas present to me) so that I can get it done and flipped and work on the top side next.

oh yeah, sorry to the mods for so many restore thread derails...but since i couldn't work on my boat and am addicted to the site, i wanted to let you all see what could keep me away from it lol!

Hey Judge,

Nice storage solution for the banners...should keep them nice and tidy for their next outing.

The fuel tank looks like its gonna work out. I think your plan is sound, and with a tweak here and there, it will end up looking like it came that way originally...

Keep up the great work.

I like the tank mod Judge! It's going to look like it came that way.

Hey man when you gonna get your thread started....I am looking forward to seeing another Skeeter get a much needed makeover!

The way things are looking right now, all I can do for now is teardown. I'll probably have to wait until tax-time to start back with it. It's killing me not being able to work on it, though.

Your Plan is sound. My only concern is the weight. that's a lot of weight for that size boat. You might find that it will throw off the planing characteristics of the boat a bit. Time will tell. I'm a bit anal when it comes to making significant changes to the engineering designs of these things. I'm not qualified at all in that area so I pretty much stick close to the vest when it comes to design. I don't mess with it much especially in weight distribution etc... Cosmetics, heck yes, but not much else. I hope it all works out well.
