Re: 1980 Tidecraft Bass Boat Restoration

Are you planning on changing the deck configuration. I noticed in the earlier pics the original had large Knee braces attached to the transom and I've seen others on the forum with the same configuration. Are you adding those later or reconfiging?

Oh yeah.....the knee braces have to be added and glassed in next, as well. I also plan on glassing a layer of epoxy over the bilge area, just for added protection in case of gas/oil/whatever happens to get in there.

Coating it with epoxy won't do anything to help protect it, no damage will be done either way.

Your project looks great and you are doing a good job also!
Thanks for the advice on the sawzall chisel tip, bought one the other day and plan on using it this week once I get my cap lifted off to clean up the inside.

Was wondering how you flipped your hull over to paint it? Hopefully will be able to paint mine in a a few weeks or so.

Going to keep up with your thread, hopefully we can have a nice day at Lake Fork with our finished boats soon.

Thanks! I used my Kubota with front end loader to flip my hull. I have hay/pallet forks on the front that are as handy as pockets on a shirt.:D

If you don't have a tractor, there are some threads on here with some pretty ingenious ideas for "hull flipping".
Storms moving through this morning, so we might get enough water in some of these lakes around here so I can get it wet when I finish it!

I actually bought that exact same one a few weeks ago. Its a great fish finder at an affordable price! I love the one I have. I doubt you will have any questions about it, but let me know if you do.

We're supposed to have a warm up this coming week, so hopefully I can get my front stringers finished up, and maybe some flooring in.

Was your flooring glassed in like mine? Or maybe that is how all boats are and i'm just dumb.

Can't wait to see some more pics of your fishing stringers.

Re: 1980 Tidecraft Bass Boat Restoration

Mine was glassed in. Thats how all fiberglass boat floors are attached. I'm off work tonight, so I'm going to try to get the shop warm enough to tab in my second middle front stringer. I've got the two outer ones cut, but felt it would be easier to get the middle ones tabbed in if I didn't bed the outer ones just yet. If I can get the other inner one tabbed in, then I can get the outer ones bedded in, and let them dry over the weekend, while I'm at work.

Got a small section of the floor in today. This is the drop-down section where the fuel tank sits.

This is a jig made to clamp my stringers in place and level while bedding them. I made one for the front and one for the rear.

I made this for marking my stringers.

Thanks. I hope to get the front stringers finished up this week. I decided to put some of the rear floor in so I'll have a good place to stand.

I bought a yard of 50" wide Carbon Fiber. I'm gonna try use this on the cover for my 140 HP evinrude.

I plan to use this decal set. Not the E-TEC part, but the Evinrude with Flag.

The deck is looking good.

Are you using those lamps for heat? I'm trying to figure out my heating situation right now, thinking of just using a lot of lights to heat up the area I am prepping and working with the resin.

Nice carbon fiber for the engine, can't wait to see how that turns out.

Re: 1980 Tidecraft Bass Boat Restoration

I have a couple of heaters that I use to warm my shop up. I don't like to leave them on at night, while the epoxy cures, so I leave the brooder lamp on, pointed at my project, just to keep it somewhat warmed.
