What no BBQ pics? Can I still get a hamburger with cheddar, two strips of bacon and some slaw on it? Put it on one of them ciabatta buns too, lightly grilled eh?

If your paint scheme looks cool I'm flat out gonna copy it. As far as heat and humidity, it's really bad here today. I spent 5 hours stripping the Scamp. I went through 4 shirts, and a half dozen glasses of iced tea. Hope you had a good Fourth. It's Redneck heaven here in Macomb County nothing but explosions, my ears are still ringing. Still have 10 fingers though. Hope you had a good one.

One day them glassers are gonna come for you buddy. lol

Hey osby, started playing lumberjack today. 95 degrees and 95% humidity, why not right:rolleyes:

Your a braver than me.

It was 104 in the afternoon here at the house, really glad my chain saw is needing repairs. I spent most of the day enjoying the A/C. We decided that pizza was a good call as opposed to grilling for dinner and then went to see fireworks.

Tomorrow that Stihl will be here, so no more excuses.

On the windshield, I saw some C/L listing a while back that listed custom made plexi for boats, unknown$$$. http://annarbor.craigslist.org/boa/3088152671.html

Just letting you know in case some mob member doesn't come through for ya.

Congrats on the...er... 'splash" of the new niece! :D

Boy - sure feels weird being all caught up on a jas resto thread! I'm usually scrambling 30 pages and six months behind...

Nice work. Now i can read along with the rest of the class. :)

Thanks guys, appreciated! Her name is Kate and just as beautiful as can be, I just love her!!!:D

Hey welcome scout! Glad to have ya hanging out!:)

-----------------------------------------------------------

OK, so today the humidity dropped waaaaay down to like 98% and in between my daddy/uncle/baby/logistics I found a few minutes with some paint.

One more wash down with vinegar and water then on to a light pass of etching primer...

I didn't have to use too much as I didn't have very much bare alum there.

Then on to priming. I went with 1:1 primer and acetone....
IMAG0091.jpg

Yah, I know that's not recommended but with this humidity I ran with it.

Here's the gun I'm using...

I had to do a bit of fine tuning and overall it worked well.

SN all primed up...

I had just a few runs/drips, nothing too bad. I was reminded of two important things though:

1. Lighting is very important!

2. The difference between too dry, just right and runs/drips is just about a quick second with the gun.

Overall I'm purdy happy with that and she'd ready for the top coat:)

Congrats on the niece - love the name (we have one of those in our brood).

The primer looks great. This boat is going to be awesome!

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Did you get that good of coverage w/ 1 coat of 50/50? Or is it the good original paint giving it such good coverage w/ just 1? Even over the light etching primer....

Looks great anyway you got there...

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Thanks fellas!:)

JB - I just went out to take a closer look at everything. Yup, all good;) Very good coverage. I was even able to get a light sanding in on those few drips I had there. I can't say I made up the 1:1 though. I got that from a fella using Rustoleum for auto painting (I think I have a link somewhere in the Islander thread). I really think I like his recipe. If memory serves me "milk" was the consistency he was after.

I do have the white on hand and should be able to get that on the hull first thing in the a.m. I don't yet have a second color (haven't yet committed:rolleyes:)

Well of course, milk goes great w/ cake, cookies & them brownies you have yet to introduce to the SN

Color all of us here surprised that you have not yet committed to a 2nd color.... White on White is certainly bright & cool on the feet/body parts that come into contact with it.....

That spray coverage is excellent, even from WV:) Nice work w/ the spray gun!
