Glen - I ran the HIN though a validation program and got:

Hull Identification Number STRE77140479

Manufacturer: Starcraft Marine Llc Manufacturer Status: Plant Open

Address: 68143 Clunette Street
mmmmmmNew Paris, Indiana 46553
mmmmmmUnited States
Brands: Starcraft
Manufacturer's Website: Starcraft Marine

Certification Date: April 1979 Integrity Check Passed
Model Year: 1979

Looks like a '79 to me. Good rookie Border Guard work. He didn't know who he was messin' with.

Trailers in real good shape except the paint.

I like it Dozer. I don't blame ya for wanting to take a break from the boat building, your summers are not anywhere long enough and the winters way to long. Have fun with the big one.

Thanks AJ, there all fun.

Ya I know John, I had to hid it around the corner behind the tractor to keep my mind from going in that direction. Maybe we will get a wack of snow early this winter to bury it deep so I can't get at it to pull it in the hanger.

Re: 1977 18' v5

One more thing, I will have to edit the title for the thread, from the HIN# STRE77140479 F9 this is not a 77 but a 79. Are not the last two numbers before the F9 the year of production and the 77 is the design year.

Well that makes a ton more sense with the engine, I found out it's also a 79!

Good job you didn't keep that engine on it, noticed you have 1 rail missing on the bow, I have 2 I took off my v5, mine look a little higher than your's not sure though, look at my first few pics on my v5, not going to be using them their missing the really severe angle brackets closest to the windshield, your welcome to them if you want.

How's the condition on the boat John? With that motor if it is a clean shine and flip a guy could make some coin if it runs good.

Hey John thanks for the offer the other bow rail was in the bow under some of the junk, just saves me taking it off.

Hey Glen! Looks like a great boat to work on --- and nice find there Gibbs!!!

Just your average drive for you though....2600km --- nice little weekend jaunt! :)

Sorry I haven't commented till now... had to replace out 20 servers and upgrade all of our corporate software over the last 5 days with 2 other guys on my team... it was a little busy!

Glad to see you are ready to roll with this one... I may have missed it, but when were you thinking of starting on this one?

Jim
