Thanks kcassells, What originally started out a s a mere couple months project, has turned into a few years now.

So I really have to balance work on everything else and the boat. Yard work, vehicle care and even helping neighbors so often take the time and the boat takes a back burner. But One day it will get done. :thumb:

Well I finally did get to do some work on the boat today. With the really nice weather we are presently having, I took a lot of braces and panels and polyed them with polyester and CSM to water proof everything. I didn't take any pictures because it is merely panels with poly resin and CSM on them. Not something with much interest. But tomorrow I can finish off the effort and then finish up the last remaining gauge front panel. Once I get the final gauge panel complete, then I can finish the front storage area as well. PROGRESS! YEA! :thumb:

I am sure most folks have hear the story about working the north 40 fences. Ponderosas comes to mind. Well I actually did work the north fence today. I live on a golf course. Now before everybody thinks I live in some ritzy gated community, let me explain. The wife and I bought a little over an acre of wooded land decades ago and built our home on it. And we were seriously in the woods. There was nobody around us and that is what the draw was.

However, since that time literally thousands of homes have built in the same area now. And even a golf course was built and it backs up to our back yard. Well there is a buffer of trees between our yard and the fairway on one of the holes. But most of those trees are pine trees. And if you know anything about pine trees, they don't live forever. And two of those pine trees fall down and crushed our backyard fence to the ground.

I called the owner of the golf course and he wasn't in. But he was supposed to get back to me. That was months ago. So I called again. And again not one word. I even took a few pictures and send them to his email address. And not one word about fixing the fence.

Now I know I could take this to small claims court, but honestly the cost would be more then the fix. So we bought the materials this morning and I worked rebuilding the north fence back so somewhat normal. I cut the pine trees up into manageable pieces and through them back on the golf course side and repaired the fence. I am tired now.

But I also flipped all the parts over from yesterdays effort and polyed and CSM the other sides, So tomorrow I can work the port side rod box now. So even working the fence, I did manage to work in a little boat progress. :thumb:

Sam, I actually thought about that. I honestly did. But then I thought that, no, that would be just like the owner. So I tried to take the high road and just fix the fence and forget about it. I mean after all, it is Christmas time.

But it would have been neat to see his face if there were chucks of pine tree logs all over the fairway. And I do live a little higher elevation then the course too. ::pound:

Yea WOG, I hear yea! Some times you have to pick your fights. This wasn't one of those times IMO. And now since the work on that fence is complete, I am focusing on the boat...again, until the next situation pops up.

HA WOG thanks, and I hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas as well.

I realize it has been a while since posting on my main project boat thread on here. Well I do have some update material and a sad story as well.

Yesterday, Christmas 2015, my close friend and neighbor, that I have been helping for suck a long time because he was so unable to do anything for himself anymore, died yesterday on Christmas day around 10:00AM in the morning at his home next door. Being totally bed ridden and receiving HOSPICE Care, he went to sleep in the morning and stopped breathing. So we've had a very mixed emotional feelings Christmas day this year. God Bless his family! My only consolation is he isn't in any pain now. I'll surely miss him visiting me in my shop for certain!

As for an update to the boat itself. I did PB in the last rod box now and am working on the last gauge Helm panel as well. So once I finish that up, it is time to flip the hull and start the preparation for priming and paint.

More later on. :thumb:

I did some boat work today. I finished the last Helm panel that has the gauges on it. Only three gauges, but the three I think are the most important in any boat. A Tach to keep track of the RPMs, a Battery Gauge to see what the Cranking and Trolling Motor batteries are doing (selectable), and a fuel Gauge to see how much fuel is remaining. And for the fuel and battery gauge, I have a Low Level Warning LEDs that I can preset to come on alerting me to either/or situations. Then I have the Live Well Aerator Timer and a Power Outlet, just incase I need some type light for who knows what. Nothing fancy, but certainly nice and usable.

This is my computer design layout.

This is the actual panel stuffed with the components but not yet wired.

Another shot. Yes there is a few fingerprints as well.

Just another angle. Again stuffed with the parts, but not wired. I think it will do. And now I can make the cutouts for all the panels and then install the rest of the boat's bow construction. Then I can flip it over for the paint effort. :thumb:

I can make other designs for my boat...

WOG, I will send a few your way too, so you watch your mailbox as well. :pound:

I mean it only took me...well...I can't even remember how long now to get them built.

Panel looks great and along with the others it will give your boat such a finished look. Those will definitely be the little touches to tie the boat together and make it a great looking rebuild.

Sorry to hear about your neighbor from reading I know he will be missed but as you said he's in a better place now. Hopefully (despite the obvious) you had a great Christmas.

Thanks you guys for the...?...words? I now have to cut the actual wood/polyester/CSM/1708 panels to fit these into. And then PB the wood/polyestered panels in for keeps. Then time to flip the hull.

I am really working hard now to hopefully beat the spring Crappie Spawn. But with the latest warm weather, they may spawn next week. 80 degrees in December is not what they need right now. But it does help with the poly work. We will see...

Well again I did get some more work done on the boat today. I cut the front panel out for the gauge and trolling motor panel installation. They will mount at a convenient angle when I am sitting at the helm (front seat) and offer me direct access and visibility.
IMG_0029.JPG
This is a simple mockup of how the front will install. It isn't PBed in place but simply sitting there for a look see. You can see the gauge panel and trolling motor panel mocked up where they will bolt in once the front section gets permanently installed, hopefully tomorrow. Yes I know it looks out of place because the is no panel to balance it out on the right hand side. But that panel will be where the fish/depth locator will mount and plug in. So after it all gets installed it will look perfectly balanced.

IMG_0030.JPG

Just another shot from a different angle. Of course it will look better when it all is finished. I hope! I tried to carry the design layout across the four panels so everything looks to go together with each other. Probably a lot more then a simple tri-hull boat of this type really needs...I will admit that. But oh well! :noidea:

I still need to get the stainless steel 6 x 32 x 1 1/4" screws and t-nuts for all the panels. But there are cheap.

Hope to continue the effort with the weather being so warm. :thumb:

I really like the way you have it coming together ! The angled panel is a great idea ! Will the upper deck overhang the gauges any ? Maybe to keep the water from running down on them ? Or that may obstruct the view ..
Happy new year Gm !!
