Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

I was just looking at the "before" pics at the begining of this thread. The time and love you put into this Islander will really make it a member of your family.
Which brings me to a question. Like a lot of other people, after I restore something I just can't stand to part with it. The last tractor I restored is beautiful, and sitting in the shop.
So how do you make room for future projects? A guy like you isn't going to stop here!

Jas, if you're close to a "splash" date, your timing is awesome! I heard global warming is coming, let's hope it hits Michigan first...if only to extend your boating season!

Go get your Mary Swanson tomorrow...

My orange tux is all cleaned, pressed and ready for action:becky:

Brushed cap = :thumb:

Thanks buddy, it's kinda fun bolting on finish pieces!:joyous:

Hey, go ahead and stop by this thread tomorrow. I might just have an answer for that question:spy:

Yah man, I do hope the frozen water hold off for just a bit this year:watermelon:

That really big one prolly ain't going to fit into your garage would it?

Is this Islander going on a road trip tomorrow? I'm thinking so with all the action she's been getting this week.

Nope. Listen, if I pull an oops, and fall right off the side of the planet, never to be seen or heard of again.....

That means I scored that bohemoth:becky::whoo:

That also means that Jen finished me off (fry pan, rolling pin, other blunt force trauma form random kitchen utensils) and you guys should be checking the metal recycling centers here in the mid Michigan area:nightmare:

Is this Islander going on a road trip tomorrow?

Nope. Not yet anyway.:tape:

Have you ever seen a man beaten to within an inch of his life with a mellon baller?

Make sure someone has a video camera handy....

With all the hype going on, and you possibly being the first with the big one, and with your reputation as always having a big project, don't choke on us tomorrow.....seriously can you handle the pressure? I mean come on...a tinny of epic proportions....and after dreaming of it for so long....and here it is, tomorrow.....the big day. Wow....:D. <sarcasm off>

You going to sea trial it?

Visions of the biggin' dancing in his head, somebody ain't gonna be well rested for a road trip ending in a life altering purchase decision.....

{further goading & hassling button off}

Good luck!

You're worth way more alive & suffering, so death by melon baller/frying pan isn't much likely..... How much can you take & is the biggin' worth it, is the real question that will plague you all the way to Cincy.......

OK, short list for today:

#1 Acquire large metal boat.

#2 Live to tell the tail.

At this point I'm still at 50/50 for #1.

I feel my odds for #2 are terrible, really bad actually.

Good luck, safe travels.

Are the kids co-conspirators or hostages?
