Not sure if it is possible, however, what do you think about mounting the track inserts with Starcraft facing outwards?

Yup, I can just spin them around the other way no sweat. I guess I couldn't figure if they should be facing in or out ya know.

I'm with Marc, I think they should face the world instead of the passengers.

Face out...That way the fish can read them when they come over the rail and know exactly what brand boat did 'em in!

That's my problem! My fish have higher standards than to just jump into any anonymous boat. I always thought it was me.:D

Jas question for you as I presume hopefully correctly that my 1976 22 Chieftain has same hull as your islander. Could you give me some guidance on cutting my floor to install a belly tank. I don't need to replace it just cut and install tank and glass the cut piece back in. Fromthe centerline how wide of a cut should I make and guessing a little over 1/2" deep. Sorry for robbing your thread.

Hmmmmmmmm.....

Well, let's see here.

I suppose if I were in your shoes, I'd be thinking about just going after the whole deck, dropping in the tank, then building in a new one.

But, if you are bent on chopping out only enough o get the tank in there, then you are chopping out just enough to get the tank in eh? Maybe an inch bigger than the tank itself I'd guess.

Two tricks though:

#1 Be sure that your tank (and fittings) will actually fit below deck. It's just a little hard to find a tank that can pull that off.

#2 Be sure that it'll fit between your stringers too! If not, you'll be moving them out which will in turn raise your deck height. Not terrible, just a consequence of moving the stringers out. (or you modify those stringers)

Hope that helps ya:thumb:

Short of some exploratory hole drilling to find them do you know the width inside edges of the stringers?

Look for the rivets holding the floor to the stringers. Measure the distance between the rivets, deduct a skooch and that's the rough width.

OK fellas, nothing super special here but I do have progress!

The very bottom (chine) and the stern is all painted up...

Took me a while to get to here and I do still have a ways to go - just keeping the blades turning:thumb:

I'll need to let that cure for a bit, then we on are on to hull color:joyous:

It's more than just progress. Jason. Only a few more square feet and the hull is painted. Sounds easy from down here. :)
