Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Stirring up the mob again I see....

Great looking tracks, the inserts are even better....

Nice grab, really nice!

Other SC dealers wish you'd quit posting those kinds of deals when you score one. Their call count went thru the roof w/ 'Do you have a clearance rack' & 'What's on it? Anything good/cool?' questions all afternoon....

You probably even called the Admiral over to let her watch the mob get all wound up, drooling all over those inserts when you posted them.

Totally awesome Jas; I especially liked the sound effect introducing The inserts. :)

Hey thanks a bunch fellas, yah, I am pretty buzzed about these!

I must admit though...

Even though they were "clearance" my local Starcraft dealer was still making enough to "keep his light bill paid" I can assure you. But I didn't care, they were just too awesome to turn down. I think I ended up paying what would have been essentially full price for the standard track insert so I guess I figure I got the Starcraft decal setup for free. I'll take it!

Very nice tracks and the emblem looks great. Now all we need to see is some downriggers and rod holders on her and she will be looking the part of a big water fishing machine!

Hey Jas, I go away for the weekend and come back to three more thread pages, a set of painted topsides, fully fixed gunwales with custom inserts for the tracks and one obviously happy jasoutside! Good work mate! :D

Thanks again fellas, yah pretty amped over those tracks - super utility for holding all my gear when we are fishing and they dress up really nice when I slide the tracks in for tubing, like it:joyous:

------------------------------------------------

All right, now I am just trying to avoid all the paint prep I yet need to work through for the rest of the hull. But, all the same, I installed my exhaust scoops...

I searched high and low for just the right scoops for this Islander, and I do believe these look pretty sharp on there.

And where did I find em? Well, they came off of a gigantic rotted out glasser of course!:D

(I think it was a 40 some odd foot CrisCraft actually)

All right, so, for the rest of the week I ought to be moving along on paint prep for the rest of the hull, no more playing around.....

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

All right, so, time for a short list:

Once over the whole hull with the palm sander.

Once over the whole hull with the red metal sanding pad.

(I am really thankful that I got the bulk of the sanding done a long time ago)

Then, clean, clean, clean, clean......

From there I'll need to run the tape/tarp/etch/prime/paint in three stages as I see it.

#1 The bottom few inches of the hull plus the transom

#2 Hull sides

#3 Cabin window frames and "patches"

It's going to take me a while to get through all that ^^^ and most of it is pretty boring stuff. So, updates on this thread will be pretty thin but I'll post up when I have something to show for it.

Cheers guys!:joyous:
