Ja Great news on your mom. I for one am great if you need to vent some here. If the rain dont stop plug that hole in the big boat with plywood and rock that out till the waters subside.

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Ok, so I am wiring up the trailer and am finding things a bit loose/rusty on my round plug on the truck. I don't have anything with trailer breaks so I decided to just cut it off in order to just wire up a four flat. But, I'm not certain about what gets hooked to what. Any of you fellas know for sure?

Thanks buddy, just had a few wires that I really didn't need.

Got the tail lights wired but I cannot figure these clearance lights! They have a single wire that should connect to the brown. I think. As soon as I do nothing works! Aaaaarrrrggg!

Yah, totally agree guys. Have to keep priorities where priorities need to be! It was definitely good news but she still has such a long way to go to get out of the woods. Hate it, wish I could do something. Wish I could pick her up can carry her out.

I know this is a bit late buddy, but I do wish your mom and all of your family my best wishes and our prayers are with you buddy.

Wooohoooo! Yah! All right!!

Hey that was pretty exciting!

Now if I could just get her to like me:facepalm:

:D

Dude, if she did not like you I think that you would be in a pretty miserable place right now buddy. You are not pulling the wool over this old wolf's eyes. In fact I think that you are a pretty luck dude and think that you have a wonderful family and you would be lost without her:D

Well do the lights have 2 wires or 1? If only a single wire you need to make sure that the light housing or ear/stud is grounded to the trailer good. You can do this with an ohm meter if you have one, touch it to the ear/post and then to the frame. If good ground then it will show it and be low resistance and if not then it is going to indicate an open or infinite resistance. If this is good then take said ohm meter with the trailer unplugged and touch it to the brown wire furthest from the plug and the frame to see if you have a short in the line somewhere. If no short, try adding 1 marker light at a time and doing this all over again. Also test your plug on your trailer and also your truck to make sure that none of the wires have somehow shorted together. Is the wiring harness on your pull rig a factory one or a home made one? Might be wired wrong if home made. On trailer, use ohm meter between plugs when it is unhooked to make sure none are hooked together that way.

I will think on it some more and see what I can come up with as well.

Thanks TII and Kelly, much appreciated.:)

Yah, no OHM tester here at my place. The light only has a single wire and there is a little tab that gets grounded with the mounting screw. I'm perplexed as there are so few things going on that I can't get it figured out:confused: I mean, there is really only one way to hook this thing up. I'll monkey with those clearance lights again today and take a photo for you guys if I can't get them to play nice.

Here are a couple of tail light shots. Really bright, love em...

Got the plate on to make it all legal and legit...

:D

I also spent some more time filling/feathering the side panels, so they are coming along too.

Have a great Sunday guys!:)

Well, just went out and played with it a little more. I can't get it figured.

Here is the light...

When I snap it in place and hook it up to the brown/running light wire my trailer tail lights go out completely and my truck lights go really dim.

Thanks for the link EZ - I may need to grab one of those (price is right) and run with what Kelly lined up for me.

Am glad that oldjeep got ya through it ok Jason. That is kind of what I thought was going on was that you had a short, and that is exactly what you made was a direct short:facepalm:. Sorry I did not get right to the point at the very first Jason, I should have caught that myself.

Get that multimeter that Ez showed you dude cause you are going to be needing it again sooner or later. They are great for working out circuits and what not and that one is free, SO GET THE FREAKING METER

You will do fine wiring the 4.3 my friend and if you do have issues then there is iboats here to help you.

You put oar locks on that baby I want a video of you trolling with it:D

Holy smokes! I just noticed my odometer is about to roll over! This is it, post number 4K!

Well, what I really want to say is, thanks guys!

The lot of you have made this a really great place to hang out. I appreciate all the help, knowledge, skill, encouragement, honesty, support, wisdom, and even prayers. I'll take it right along with the challenge, nonsense, jokes, sarcasm, and harassment.

You fellas rock!

Cheers!
