I finally sat down a read through your entire thread. With all the ups and downs, I am exhausted. I have only owned glassers, but yours is really growing on me. You are doing a wonderful job on this boat, and I can't wait to see it finished.

On a side note, I noticed you were in Michigan. My best friend had a cottage on Platte Lake and we would spend our summers there as kids. It is a wonderful place there is August. You can have the winter though, I like my Texas heat.

Keep up the good work!

You notice I left out the year:rolleyes:

Don't hold your breath on this project completion GA:facepalm:

Yeah I saw that, and I knew that you were going to say that. LOL. It sounds like your going to have a full plate this summer. I think that if you chip away at it like you've been, by the end of August the "getto boat" should be wet. Now remember not to be shy and ask for help if you need it.

Yup! Love it out here! I have just over 11 acres to stretch out. It's just enough to hunt deer/turkey, hike around, cross country ski, little hill for sledding, tractor rides, pick wild blueberrys, and with wise forest management, heat my house forever. I have planted a small patch of Christmas trees and just about ready to plant a small apple orchard. As time goes on, I'll build a rock climbing wall, ice climbing tower, and a huge, super long zip line. If I can get my hands on a dozer and/or excavator there may end up being a pond here too:D

Good news, it's going fast! We have had some rain and warmer temps:)

Dude! You read the whole thing!!!! I didn't think you were laid up that long with your injuries!

Yah Jay, I can't wait to see it finished too man! I'll be way pumped!

My favorite parts of MI all seem to have water around em. Love the gigantic lakes and the beautiful sandy beaches.:)

Keep rocking that glass boat, and when you get it all done, sell it for a whole pile of cash! Take a small fraction of that and rebuild yourself a tinney;):D

Yup, I just need to keep plugging away on er man. I'll get there.

Thanks for swinging through guys!

Besides clean up duty I am also hunting for vinyl. Just about there too. Once I get that on hand I can work through the whole rest of the cabin area. I have had to wait on that as I wanted to match the vinyl with whatever seats I got. No I have em, so, here we go!

OK, so here is what I got done yesterday...

I loaded up the trailer with the remains of the 4 Winns, deck of the Jet Star, some deck pieces of the Islander, and the very butt end of Thumper the Baja, (few kitchen cabinet pieces in there too) made my way to the landfill...

Right in the giant bin...

There, now don't we all feel better getting rid of that nasty fiberglass? Yah, me too! Kinda cleansing almost.

I should be careful posting this sorta stuff. Guys might think I actually enjoy handling glassers this way:eek::D

That was right before the sideways snow hit:facepalm:

After the sideways snow storm, the sun came out and it was beautiful!

I continued working on consolidating and sorting stuff. I had it boxed up in a couple of different places, bringing it all together it surprised me how much I had!

That represents about 80% of the stuff. I think I'll have a boaters garage sale here in a couple of weeks.

I then wanted to organize this stuff, figure out what is needed for the Islander, for the Jet and what needs to get pitched and sold.

For whatever reason I was drawn to the old Baja console. I wanted to get the steering column off the gauge panel without unhooking all the gauges (I want to trace everything back to where it needs to go). I figured the easiest way would be to chop/hack around the steering column to cut it out (I was wrong). I grabbed my saw and loppers. On the last chop I complety busted the handle on my favorite loppers...

What a dummy.

Yes, I know I could have just unbolted the column. Yes I am a dummy.

It saw things my way in the end though.

And here I thought I had a lot of stuff in my garage, you have me beat hands down Jason. But I am betting you have more good stuff in there than what I do though. Way to go bud, keep it up.

No way man! Boatman's garage sale on clist!

I am embarrassed to say how many loppers I have busted. I thought those ones were the strong ones!

The canoe stays!!!! That Old Town Discovery is my hold out! That is my first actual boat and I luv er, she is indestructible! Just a little dirty/dusty at the moment. At one time I had another canoe and an entire fleet (like 15) of sea kayaks. That Old Town is what is left, course, I have added a pair of Starcrafts to the mix:D

I do have a few cool pieces in there, yet to be seen, super ready to be mounted on the Islander;)

I can't wait!:D

Rock on guys!

Your garage looks like a "where's waldo" book. Somebody said Canoe and I had to go back and look again.

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Well guys, I spent a few hours getting everything organized, sorted, separated, boxed, and labeled...

(The canoe is there just to hold kid stuff mainly)

I think mom would be proud.:)

The bulk of that time was spent back at the Merc wiring harness/controls/gauges. Lots of separating/following wires and this sort of stuff...

I took a lot of photos for reference later on down the road. None of it may matter though as I am basically starting from scratch. Or, it may be a huge help, dunno. It's going to be quite the challenge for me to get this Merc installed, plumbed, and wired. Man, there is a lot going on!

Cheers!

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Hey, I saw the sun today so I went back at the trailer. Last fall I took off the brackets (that I so carefully installed) and had risers welded on instead. So, all that stuff needed to get hit with paint. I also had a bunch of nicks and scratches from rigging last fall. So, I decided to pull off all the gear and taped up the rollers...

I decided to paint the jack stand gray instead of black, I think that should look purdy good.

Trailers, such fun:rolleyes:

Nice job Jason, like the gray. Is that red oxide paint around the welded areas?

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

That is gonna be one really nice trailer setup when you are all done with it. The double axles will probably even be able to handle all the weight from the fuel tanks when they are full:D

Course if you take Bcast out fishing he might overload the boat with huge kings and walleyes;)

Did you check to see if that jack stand get the boat tall enough to drain even on a slight incline? I've been having issues with that on my trailer and I think I'm gonna move the wheel closer to the boat.

Is that an RV back there or a huge deer blind? :)

Well, that wouldn't be so bad would it!

Yah, I think I am good there.

My neighbor behind me stores his big ol RV there over the winter. I suppose if I wanted to he would let me hunt out of it. Or, I could just hunt from my kitchen. Coffee is hot eh!
