LOL.

Looks nice. Hey, since you're up anyway, can you come watch my 3 year old? I'd like to go back to bed.

Love to, but you'll need to fight it out with Jen. She has me watching our three so she can sleep in. Good luck with that buddy!

Thanks for the vote of confidence boys!

This morning I fabbed up and sanded the gunwale backer plates out of Auraco ply. I'll get those epoxied over the next couple of days.

Still working on the bones of this rig. I'm looking forward to more of the finish work, some day.

That Merc should get some attention before long too!

Nah, that's when everything starts to go horribly wrong :p

Nah, I'm not using any of that expensive "fall off" paint. Cheepo, CBK tested, Rustoleum - should hold up great!

It only took 4 days, but I've managed to read both of your build threads. Glad they don't police the internet at work!!!!

You are doing some AWESOME work! It is really great to you diving in and doing it. It certainly looks like you've done it before and not the first time. This has been a great read and very insightful. It is definitely encouraging to me. Keep up the good work!

Just about every canoe trip I guide I'll have a couple of meat heads who will want to get to camp first. They will paddle really, really fast and smack! Right into a stump. Then they get going again, super, super fast, bam, into a rock. Paddle really hard, crash, right into the bank. Those fellas are usually fighting with each other, totally exhausted and last into camp. All the while I'll be saying to them...

"Guys, you don't need to go fast and you don't need to go hard. Just keep the blades turning, nice and steady, and you'll get there. Hey, enjoy the scenery while you are at it!"

Moral to the story?

I have a meat head bent, but, I am trying hard to just keep the blades turning.

Love the harassment Charlie, keeps me on my toes my friend!;):D

It will be worth it in the end. I like what you have done so far.

Making progress Jas, 1&1/2 more pages and I'm sure this restoration will make the worlds record for a 100 pages.

Thanks man, yah, I think it'll be way worth it just on the fist float! Man that day will be fun!

Well, since I have mine set for 100 threads/page I'm really only at 25;)

One more small step this morning - stroked another coat of epoxy the gunwale backers.

I also sold off my other boat seats. Man those were super nice, maybe a little high end for my more utilitarian Islander. I made a little money on them. I would have made a bunch more if it weren't for eBay fees/PayPal fees:rolleyes:

Here is what I am thinking for replacements...

Those are really nice seats and the pricing is really good to. The problem for me is trying to get them to Canada with out all the fees.

Yah, those prices are pretty darn good - especially in light of me originally looking at $500ish to recover those ones I pulled out of the Baja. I am completely convinced buying new is a more cost effective route than re upholstery.

Hey, you want me to smuggle a pair over the border in a bag of Doritos for ya? I'd do it for ya dood!:D

I like #2 or #3...those arm rests looks great, and in some waves they will be nice to help keep your butt in the seat:)

Many great things have been built one small step at a time. The pyramids of Giza, the Panama canal, the Empire State building, and soon...Jason's Islander:D
