Are we talking moving galley so it is starting at the cockpit port wall going forward along port side? (Replacing port settee) Or are you saying putting it against the cockpit wall, half on port, half starboard?

I like the v berth foldable extension idea!

well its slow. lol..... needing wiring and other lights, and now wood also. lol. (if i upgrade the way im thinking ) (above pics) as for the strip lighting i must have got a bad batch of them. as soon as i hooked up my battery they went poof and blew out some of them. so i am not going with this idea anymore. and yes i hooked them up properly positive to positive neg to neg. 12v lights. i will be buying some courtesy lights. (blue) for the near floor. and some recessed lighting for the cabin and vberth. 4 lights in main cabin and 2 in vberth.

On my 27 the galley was in the same place your intending but on the starboard side. Are you willing to give up your quarter birth?

was thinking on putting it atop of the settee starting at the cockpit wall.

Yea I got ya, 5 extra feet makes a huge difference. The cabin in your boat reminds me a lot of mine. The fresh water tank was on the starboard aft of the galley.

LED: Damn... I'd send em right back to if you can, that's ridiculous. I can't stand buying things new that don't even work one time. I've had soo many DOA parts over the years, I just expect it now bc it seems like that's getting more and more common these days unfortunately...

And of course the description will always say it's rated the best! Oh yeah, "Super strong!" and "Superior performance" ... Sure. "Drop Forged, billet, cryo treated, case-hardened, Chinesium Alloy!" Thanks Amazon for flooding the market with disguised garbage.

my fresh water is a water tote that sits under the vberth cove. so the hose runs under the floor from there to the sink pump. that will change if i do what im thinking....

the reason for moving the galley is so i can stand when the hatch is open and be able to cook . instead of sitting down and cooking. lol. or i could do away with the galley altogether and just cook in cockpit..... and just cut away the settee about a foot and add a wall there for head to go. ? thus saving the settee . i would put the sink somehow in the head ....

Oh I think you'd regret losing the little galley.. Cockpit grilling is awesome but cooking a hot meal in comfort on a cold rainy night is just as great! The standing room thing is really important in my opinion too, that move makes a lot of sense to me. I heavily modified my whole ceiling structure just to be able to stand at the galley.
So I'm definitely for option 1!

i hear you on standing room, as my standing room is less than perfect i would sooner have the hatch open in order to stand. lol. i dont really want to rebuild the roof as that would make it higher and way less stable. and if it rains i can just make a boom tent. to cover the hatch.

thats the plan then. galley next to companionway and 1 ft cut off the settee so as to install a wall for the head, will then be installing battery and stuff somewhere else . just have to think of where? maybe in vberth somehow.... ? battery could possibly sit where the cubby is? or maybe under the starboard side settee? i dont know yet ...lol

Definitely, reshaping a fiberglass
roof would not be easy or fun! The hatch opening is all you need. I was thinking of the pop up style roof that some Catalinas have like my friend's 22. Seems it was an option bc most I've seen don't have this. It opens upward and forward on 4 little pieces of SS pipe without interfering with the rigging. Makes for great standing room, visibility, and ventilation in there and you still have a roof. Might be a future upgrade you'd want. You could even close it in with some eisenglass or something too if you wanted.

Yeah, it really is pretty ridiculously priced for what it is. Never would've guessed people would be selling umbrella canvas like its cashmere. lol Looked into a super basic new camper top before for my Super Sport once and the rough estimate was more than the old boat with trailer cost so that sank that idea quick! Seems those vinyl guys are in the right business...
